Update: Body found in rail grain car in SW Kansas

FORD COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a body bound in a rail grain car in southwest Kansas released a statement Thursday afternoon.

According to Dodge City police, detectives investigated the death of the man found in Lions Park near 4th and Magnolia.

A family member identified the subject as a 52-year-old Dodge City man. The cause of death has been determined to be alcohol poisoning and hypothermia. 

Police released no additional details.

DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and local officials in southwestern Kansas are investigating after a body was found inside a rail grain car near Dodge City.

The body of a man was found in the grain car Wednesday morning in the unincorporated community of Wright, just northeast of Dodge City, television station KAKE reported. The KBI and Ford County Sheriff’s Office are working to identify the man.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation does not show any foul play in the case.
