TOPEKA - The Kansas State High School Activities Association has voted to make no changes in the start date for fall sports in 2020.
The Executive Board voted Tuesday to have all fall activities to begin as scheduled for the 2020-21 school year. This includes practice and competition.
The board voted down a proposal that would pushed back the start of high school football games until September 8 with a 5-4 vote. That start date also would have applied to volleyball, boys soccer, and gymnastics. The proposal also would have limited the football season to eight games.
Local school districts still retain the right to modify the start dates for practice or competition based on their local and county health recommendations.
