Mike Bammes has announced his resignation as the head coach of the Barton Community College wrestling team to pursue other interests.

Bammes has been the one and only head coach of the program since its inaugural season in 2015. A nation-wide search for his successor is under-way.

After the College announced the addition of Wrestling to its athletic opportunities in October 2014, Bammes was hired in January 2015 to create and build the program from scratch.

Directing the program for the past six years, Bammes' teams have brought back to Great Bend recognition from a NJCAA Individual national champion, 6 All-Americans, 49 national qualifiers, and nine NJCAA 1st or 2nd team All-Academic recipients.

Placing in final top twenty three times, the Cougars won the conference title three times and have been West/Central runner-up a trio of years behind national power NEO.
