DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a wanted suspect after a high speed chase.
Just before noon Tuesday, deputies initiated a pursuit of a Dodge Caravan that was reported driving recklessly and matched the description of a van that fled from Lawrence Police twice earlier including allegedly leaving the scene of a vehicle crash, according to police spokesperson Laura McCabe.
Deputies pursued the van from the city limits in North Lawrence, north on Highway 59 at speeds of 90 mph in oncoming traffic. Deputies then used a vehicle intervention maneuver to force the van into a field near Midland Junction.
Deputies took the driver into custody on requested charges related to the chase and a Missouri warrant. Deputies did not release the name of the suspect.
