15-year-old Kan. bicyclist dies after struck by vehicle

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A Kansas boy died in an accident just after 8p.m. Wednesday in Sedgwick County.

A bicycle ridden by 15-year-old Daniel Collier of Wichita was traveling near the intersection of 44th Street South and Hoover, according to Police Captain Aaron Moses.  

A truck driven by a 35-year-old woman struck the bicycle. EMS transported the boy to a local hospital where he was pronounce deceased. 

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.

The Wichita Police Department's Accident Follow-up Investigators are diligently reviewing all available evidence to understand the events leading up to the collision.

Wichita Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident or has information about it to call the Accident Follow-Up Unit at 316-350-3690.

This incident marks the 17th traffic fatality of 2024.
