KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and stabbing incident.
Just after 6p.m. Friday, police responded to report of a stabbing in the area of S. Osage Street and E. 40th Terrace in Independence, according to a media release.
The suspect in the stabbing fled the scene on foot, southbound, crossing Interstate 70 and entering a neighborhood. A disturbance with the stabbing suspect and a resident in the neighborhood broke out in the 4200 Block of S. Osage, resulting in the suspect shooting and killing one person and shooting and injuring another.
The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle. The stabbing victim and second shooting victim were transported to an area hospital, according to police.
The search for the suspect continues.
