Ellinwood's Eleanor Joiner, Jenna Borror, and Ali Gonzalez all finished in the top 10 at the CPL meet in Ness City last Thursday to help secure a second-place team finish. The freshman Joiner won the individual title.

Last Thursday, Ellinwood high cross country traveled to Ness City for the Central Prairie League Championships. The race was very tactical, with the 30-40 mph wind a considerable factor. There was a lot of moderate pacing and drafting into the wind, followed by big surges and attacks when they were racing with the wind.

Ellinwood coach Jeff Zook said his kids ran a smart race and were very aggressive in the second half of the race. The women missed first place by a point but put three in the top 10, including the CPL champion Eleanor Joiner. In addition to Joiner (1), the Lady Eagles added Jenna Borror (3) and Ali Gonzalez (10) to the list of All-League runners. Just outside the top 10 Madison Dombroski (11) and Heidi Brauer (13) rounded out the second-place Eagles squad.

The men's team came in third and got one runner, Ethan Robl, in the top 10 for All-League honors. The lead group of boys stayed in the front pack for the majority of the race, then continued to work together for a strong finish. Ethan Robl (10), Shae Hoskins (11), and Joe Brauer (12), led the team. The 3rd place Ellinwood men's team was rounded out by Grey Ringwald (14), Caleb Zook (19), and Jonas Kern (31).
