GREAT BEND – Robert “Bob” James Holt, 59, passed away peacefully in his home on March 16, 2020, surrounded by those he loved most dearly. He was born to John (Jack) &amp; Charlette Holt on October 6th, 1960, in Kansas City, MO and grew up in Great Bend, KS. In 1973 he met the love of his life, Tammy (Spray) Holt, who moved in across the street. On January 8th, 1983, in Great Bend, Bob and Tammy got married after a decade of friendship.

Bob was a 1979 graduate of Great Bend High School and earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1983, where he was a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. After college, Bob &amp; Tammy moved to Omaha, NE where he took a job as an estimator for AC&amp;S Construction.

In 1985 he was offered a job at Venture Corporation, and the young couple were excited to move back to their hometown of Great Bend. During his 30 years at Venture he was active on several committees with the Kansas Contractors Association. Bob served as Venture Corporation’s Secretary &amp; Estimator until his retirement in May of 2015. His involvement included; Action Auction (Chairman, 1998-2006), Public Relations (1998), Kansas Good Roads (Director), Convention Committee (1999-2015), Legislative Committee (2001-2015), Education Foundation (2008-2015), Summer Fest (Chairman, 2010-2013) and Flexible Paving Division (Chairman, 2012). Outside of his work involvement, he was a member of; CKMC Board of Directors, Past President and member of St. Patrick’s School Board, Prince of Peace Parish, having served on the Property Commission, and Board of Directors of Lakota HOA (Winter Park, CO).

His passions in life were his faith, family, friends, golf, KU basketball, and Polaris off-roading throughout the Rocky Mountains and Moab. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he refused to lose his passion for life. Through his fight, he acted as a living example of how important our brief time is on this earth. He continued to establish and build relationships, leaving lasting impressions on those whose paths’ he crossed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, and their three sons: Brett (Leslie) Holt &amp; his granddaughter Landreigh, Brad (Jordan) Holt, and Allan Holt. Also, his mother, Charlette Holt and 4 siblings: John (Suzy) Holt, Beth (Paul) Jantsch, Tom (Mindy) Holt, and Mary (Vic) Adamle. As well has his mother-in-law, Doris Spray, and two brothers-in-law, Kip (Kelly) Spray and Chris (Julie) Spray. Bob was also an amazing uncle to his 16 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) Holt, his father-in-law, Orville (Butch) Spray.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore presiding. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Robert J. Alvamar, Lawrence. She was born on March 29, 1931, at Shields, Kansas the
daughter of Clifford and Edith (Thomas) Ulrich. She married to Donald Bowsher,
Jr., on April 5, 1953, at Quinter.

She was a
long time Great Bend resident and a registered nurse working at Central Kansas Medical
Center for more then twenty years. Twila was co-owner and operator of Sentry
Hardware in Westgate Shopping Center, retiring in 1985. She loved gardening,
bird watching, working jig saw puzzles, reading story books, playing
cards/board games, and attending community concerts and traveling.

Survivors
include two sons, Keith Bowsher of Lawrence and Mark Bowsher and his wife Marg
of Richmond, TX; two grandchildren Kevin Bowsher and wife Natalie of El
Segundo, Calif and Lindsey Bailey and husband Brent of Richmond, TX; one great
grandchild Elsie Mae Bowsher of El Segundo, Calif. She was preceded in death by
her parents, her husband Donald Bowsher Jr. and three sisters Jackie McNitt,
Rosalie Bussen and Doris Fleenor.

Twylah Ann Hollembeak, 90, passed away October 1, 2020, at Almost Home in Great
Bend. She was born on September 6, 1930, at Waverly to Harry &amp; Elsie
(Kunkel) Schmidt. She married Roy Hollembeak on December 24, 1949, at Council Grove.&nbsp; He died May 17, 2001.

A Great
Bend resident, Twylah was a school secretary for USD 428. She was a member of
Central Baptist Church, ABW, and taught Sunday school for 50 years. She had a
deep love for her faith. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning and quilting.
She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. 

Survivors
include, two sons, Bruce Hollembeak and wife Jeanne of Wichita, and Hal
Hollembeak and wife Cindy of Great Bend; a daughter, Paula Laudick of Wichita;
a brother, Paul Schmidt and wife Ada Faye of Liberty, Tex.; a sister, Judy Anna
Schmidt of Parsons; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Hollembeak; a daughter,
Brenda Royce; a brother, Harry Schmidt, Jr.; a sister, Wilma Kay Michel; and a son
in law, Ron Laudick.

Leonard A. Mastroni, 71, La Crosse, died Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at HaysMed.

He was born May 28, 1949, in Bridgeport,
 Connecticut, the son of Leonard J. and Gladys (Glaser) Mastroni.&nbsp;&nbsp;On 
July 1, 1969, he was united in marriage to Linda Johnson in Englewood, 
Colorado, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from 
Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in political 
science.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leonard was a police officer in the Denver, Colorado area, 
supervising officer of the Central Kansas Drug Task Force, District 
Court Judge in the Kansas 24th Judicial District for 28 years, Rush 
County Commissioner, State Representative for the 117th District, and 
with his son, was a mechanic at J &amp; L Automotive.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a member 
of First Christian Church in LaCrosse, enjoyed being his children’s 
gymnastics coach, drag racing, spending time at his lake cabin, and 
fishing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and 
grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Linda, of 
the home in Lacrosse, a son; James L. Mastroni and wife Erin of Hays, a 
daughter; Sarah Pfannenstiel and husband Adam of Eagle, CO, a 
son-in-law; Mark A. Sizemore of LaCrosse, three brothers; Joseph 
Mastroni of Littleton, CO, Jim Mastroni and wife Mo of Littleton, CO, 
and Richard Mastroni and wife Ruth of Lakewood, CO, three grandchildren;
 Mark Alan Sizemore, Amanda Sizemore, and Sutton Mastroni, and numerous 
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Shawn Mastroni and a daughter; Sheila Sizemore.

A public visitation will be from 5:00 
pm until 7:00 on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral
 Home in Hays.&nbsp;&nbsp;There will be a private funeral service with burial 
following in the LaCrosse City Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the

 Hamby, age 32, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at Kansas Wesley
 Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He was born on Nov. 14, 1987 and was 
the son of Chuck Hamby and Machelle (O’Neal) Raya.&nbsp;

Survivors 
include his parents Chuck (Rhonda) Hamby and Machelle (Adrian) Raya; 
grandparents Mike, Diann O’Neal and Nancy Hamby; two sisters Sharr Hamby
 Diehl, Rachel (Jesus) Franco; step-sister Erika Raya; along with nieces
 and nephews, Ashlynn Hamby Raya, Cayden Scheurman, Noah Diehl, Jayston 
Hamby - Allison, Leiana, Jenaveve, Emeteria Franco; and great nephew 
Easton Whetham. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Babe Hamby.&nbsp;

Ryan
 had a heart of gold and took pride in his work in the oil field. He 
enjoyed fishing and driving anything that had a motor. Ryan could make 
anyone laugh with his sarcasm or telling a quick wit joke. He was also 
very gifted in sports. He loved spending time with his family especially
 nieces/ nephews, he touched many lives, and will be greatly missed. 
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be scheduled at a

GREAT BEND - John Harris, 84, went to be with Jesus on September 28, 2020, at his home in Great Bend surrounded by his whole family. He was the son of Merle and Emma Harris, born on January 31, 1936 in Pretty Prairie. He was one of six children.

John grew up enjoying the outdoors; fishing, hunting, farming and later, boating and more fishing.

John graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1955. He started dating Carole Schoonover from Haven High School, starting his junior year in high school.  While John was in high school, he met his Lord and was baptized at Mount Hope Methodist Church. Later, on August 15, 1957, he married that high school sweetheart and they went to Hutchinson Community College, where John played football and was co-captain of the football team in 1957. From there they went onto Emporia State University, where he received his BSE in 1959. 

John’s first job was teaching in Carbondale, where he coached all three sports, taught history, shop and drivers education. In those days, “the coach” marked the football field and drove the players’ bus. 

Their summers were spent at Arkansas State University where they received their MSE degree the following two summers. It helped that ASU was so close to calm and beautiful, Lake Norfork. 

After two years in Carbondale, they moved to Partridge where John coached and taught from 1962-1964 (football &amp; track). While in Partridge, John and Carole started their family. Pam was born in 1964. Then, as they moved to Goddard the rest of the family came along; Kim, 1967, Jenni, 1969 and Tammi in 1973. They made their home in Goddard for the next 12 years while John was coaching football and track and teaching Drivers Education and History. 

While in Goddard, he continued at Wichita State University to finish his Specialist in Education Administration. The next move was to Athletic Director in Goddard. 

Then in 1976, they moved to Great Bend, where John was the new Assistant Superintendent in charge of finance, and buildings and grounds. What a wonderful career followed at school, with further education, and teaching finance classes at FHSU and for KSU. The many years until his retirement went quickly and in 2004 he retired from USD 428. 

When the first child was born, they decided to make family vacation a priority. Each year, they would ask the girls where they wanted to go and it was always Table Rock Lake and Branson. They had many good times and good years together, as this family vacation continues as a tradition. John had many plans for fishing trips after retirement. He and Carole went to Alaska twice and British Columbia and Hawaii before his health became an issue. 

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Carole, of the home, four daughters, Pam Allender (Kendall) of Hutchinson, Kim Randall (Mark) of Great Bend, Jenni Wittig (Steve) of Great Bend and Tammi Krebaum 

(Kevin) of Salina; one brother, Joe Harris (Harriet); one sister, Amelia Lyon; two brother-in-laws, Jack Cole and Don Newton; 12 grandchildren, Erika Ewing (Harley) and their children Harley and Theodore, Erin Bernard (Jon), Zane Allender, Jackson Randall, Jensen Randall, Jaiden Randall (earning her angel wings in 2001), Johnathan Randall, Dustin Swanson (Melissa) and their children Rydlie, Lennex and Coda, Chantell Wittig (Jordan McKenzie), Kade Krebaum, Megan Krebaum and Julianna Krebaum.

He was preceded in passing by three sisters, Audrey Stamback, Julia Cole, and Ellenna Newton; and by two brother-in-laws, James Stamback and Gary Lyon.

His family, these wonderful kids, grandkids and great grandkids were the love of his life. He didn’t ever want to miss being in on whatever sport or activity they were doing. The last two years, his health dictated that he couldn’t go, but he still kept up on what was happening. 

John was a generous, patient, loving, kind and caring husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend to so many wonderful people. John loved to tell stories that entertained his family and friends. Whether the stories be about the civil war, the wild, wild west or the latest fishing stories or football games, he entertained us all with his knowledge and wit. He was an avid reader of history and Civil War stories. John had many wonderful Doctors who helped along the way; Dr. Amanda Valiant, Dr. David Gile, Dr. Richard Preston, Dr. Greg Nanney, Dr. Jon Pike, and Dr. Ryan Beard to name the most recent. 

John was involved in the Heartland Community Church of Great Bend, past president of Great Bend Noon Lions Club, past president of KASBO (Kansas Association School Business Officials), and past president of USA (United School Administrators). He was inducted into Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame in Dodge City in 2003. 

Visitaiton will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. John’s Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2020, at Heartland Community Church with Pastors Troy Miller and Greg Savage presiding. The family requests those in attendance to please wear masks. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Community Church or Barton County Food Bank, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

John Harris

Doris Josephine Winslow, age 73, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Hays Medical Center. She was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Antonino, Kansas, to Reinhold and Josephine (Kuhn) Herrman. She married David Winslow on September 26, 1998. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2009.

Love. If one had to boil Doris’s life down to one word, it’s love.&nbsp; She loved her boys.&nbsp; So much.&nbsp; She loved to see them succeed.&nbsp; She loved to see them try and struggle and eventually conquer new things.&nbsp; She loved to see her boys love and support each other.&nbsp; She loved her parents and siblings and nieces and nephews.&nbsp; When she was younger, she loved going to work every day.&nbsp; She was the type to teach by example, and no matter the lesson or task or thing, love was always the underlying element.

Doris had epic battles with mental illness for much of her life.&nbsp; Through courage and her love of her family, her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren, she found the strength to endure and overcome those hurdles.

Doris loved three husbands in her life.&nbsp; Jim and she had three sons: Dan, Rick, and Scott.&nbsp; Marrying Tom gave Doris the opportunity to share her love with stepsons Brad and Curt.&nbsp; Then marrying David gave one more stepson Chris.&nbsp; Doris loved all of her sons and stepsons equally and completely.&nbsp; She always strived to teach them life lessons and most of all, to forgive and to love. &nbsp;

Watching her boys play sports in school brought great joy to Doris, and that joy stayed throughout her life watching the boys cheer on their favorite sports teams.&nbsp; The Royals were on TV at Doris’ house a great many nights!

Doris’s favorite activity was to have friends and family over for dinner.&nbsp; She was an excellent cook and hosted countless parties filled with family, laughter, and double-deck-pinochle in the house at 1300 Eisenhower.&nbsp; The house was big enough for family to stay overnight in the spare bedroom, kids to play endless games of ping-pong downstairs, and just enough space outside to cook on the grill.&nbsp; Those were the best of times for Doris.&nbsp; She adored taking the boys camping at Wilson Lake.&nbsp; Doris greatly enjoyed listening to David play his guitar and recite the poetry he wrote.&nbsp; Doris could not get enough time on the phone with her boys, and it was impossible for her to ever say no to her grandchildren.

There is a rumor that no one has ever witnessed her boys arguing or fighting.&nbsp; Ever.&nbsp; And that’s a testament to the abundance of love Doris taught and felt for those close to her.&nbsp; Her love will endure, but she will be missed.

She is survived by three sons, Dan Kohl and wife Tina of Schoenchen, Kansas, Rick Kohl and wife Kelly of Moundridge, Kansas and Scott Kohl of St. George, Kansas; two brothers, Les Herrman of Hays and Leon Herrman of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Carol Danielson of Great Bend and Linda Mayberry of Great Bend. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Russ, Faith, Trevor and Collin Kohl.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer, Cyril, Frank, Roy, Donny and J.R. Herrman and a sister, Edna Rohr.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery in Antonino, Kansas.

Visitation will be Wednesday 6 PM - 8 PM with a combined rosary and vigil at 7 PM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Thursday visitation will be 9 AM - 9:30 AM at the funeral chapel.

worked for Goodyear Tire Company for many years and also worked for Dowell
Oilfield Services in Hays,&nbsp;Kansas&nbsp;for

St. Patrick Catholic Church in&nbsp;Great Bend,&nbsp;Kansas&nbsp;and
was a 3rd&nbsp;Degree Knights of Columbus

GREAT BEND - Dale Eugene
Oliver, 96, passed away Sept. 26, 2020, at Medicalodges of Great Bend.&nbsp; He was born July 1, 1924, in Salina, the son
of Thomas O. and Effie (Skaggs) Oliver.&nbsp;
He moved to Great Bend from Salina in 1961 to join Security State Bank
from which he retired in 1988 as Vice Chairman and CEO.&nbsp; Later he served as a Member Relations
Consultant for the American Bankers Association.&nbsp;

He was a director of the Great
Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau, BCC Foundation, Great Bend Chamber of
Commerce, Kansas Council of Economic Education, University of Kansas Greater
University Fund and the Community Hospital Association.&nbsp; He also was a former Campaign Chairman of the
Great Bend United Way and served the Kansas Bankers Association as a member of
the Governing Council plus several KBA Commissions, as well as an Associate
Councilman for the American Institute of Banking and President of the local
chapter of the Bank Administration Institute.&nbsp;
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and attended Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a 1949 graduate of the
University of Kansas, a member of Phi Delta Theta, social fraternity and a
member of Beta Gamma Sigma, honorary business school society.

He served in the
Asiatic-Pacific Theater with 773rd Amphibian Tractor Battalion,
United States Army, in World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star for
meritorious service of Keise Shima, Ryukyo Islands.

On November 14, 1954, he
married Donna Jean Deines, in Salina.&nbsp;
She survives.

Other survivors include two
sons, Daniel D. and wife Julie of Raleigh N.C., and David E. and wife Eva of
Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Sarah A. Morris and husband Dave of Salina; seven
grandchildren, Tim Oliver, Katie Oliver, Ted Oliver, Chloe Oliver (Ben Apple),
Amanda Ewertz (Branden), Abby McKinney (Chris) MacKenzie Morris, and by five
great grandchildren.&nbsp; He was preceded in
passing by one brother, Thomas O. and one sister, Marjorie Joan Cregger. 

There will be no
visitation.&nbsp; Private graveside services
will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, Salina, with Rev. Jon Brudvig
presiding.&nbsp; Military honors will be
provided by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard.&nbsp;

all of Hoisington, and Rhonda Dezotell and husband Steven of Haysville; six

She was

Betty Jean Smith

Larned - Harold Duane Kirkham, 86, passed away September 24, 2020.
Duane as he was known to many was born on June 23, 1934 to John F. and Effie M.
(Montgomery) Kirkham.

Harold enlisted in the Army in 1952. He served as a sergeant in
the Corp of Engineers stationed in England. After his return from service he
married Glenda Ann Fishburn on March 2, 1955.

Harold worked at Larned Sand &amp; Gravel for nearly 60 years,
retiring in 2012. Harold was well known for keeping driveways clear during the
winter storms of the past. He was also a champion for the underprivileged in
the area.

Harold was proceeded in death by both parents, his brother Loris,
and step sister June.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years Glenda. Daughters Terri
Bushey of Cawker City, Kansas, Tanya Parish of Larned, and son Todd of
Arlington, Texas. Harold leaves 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at
Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Tricia North presiding. Service will be

Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. She was born on December 30, 1951,
to Guillermo de Guia and Angelina Obin, at Cavite Luzon, Philippines. She
married Joseph Hayes on August 19, 1973, at San Antonio, Zambales, Phillipines.&nbsp; He survives.

Coming from
Maine in 1990, Rizalina was a Great Bend resident. She was a member of the VFW
Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid bingo lover and enjoyed gardening. 

Survivors
include, her husband, Joe Hayes of the home; a daughter, Kelly Dugan and
husband Evan of Colorado Springs; and two sisters, Rosa Denis and husband David
of Virginia Beach, Va., and Rufina Cabalu of Cavite Luzon, Phillipines. She was
preceded in death by her parents; a son, Sean Hayes; two brothers, and a
sister. 

There
will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be
held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at

Howard Michael Key “Mike” Boys, 72, passed away June 4, 2020, at Via Christi
St. Francis, Wichita. He was born on April 15, 1948, at Shelbyville, Ill, to
Richard and Nixie (Smith) Boys. He married Jolene Sellens on March 8, 1969, at
Hoisington. She survives.

Mike was an
insurance agent for 25 years. He was a graduate of Hoisington High School and
attended Pittsburgh State University. 

Survivors
include, his wife, Jolene Boys of the home; two sons, Gregory Boys of Great
Bend, and Christopher Boys and wife Dalila of Dodge City; two sisters, Sandra
Daughtery and husband Larry of Russell, and Terry Perry and husband Rick of
Benton; and three grandchildren, Caleb, Conner, and Camila. He was preceded in
death by his parents. 

A
Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3,
2020, at Heartland Community Church with Pastor Arlyn Thielenhaus and Pastor

Suppes, 94, passed away September 23, 2020, at Woodhaven Care Center,
Ellinwood. He was born on May 13, 1926, at Otis to Adam &amp; Mary (Herrman)
Suppes. He married Alma Zimmerman on May 2, 1950, at Schoenchen. She survives.

Eugene was
a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he served
as an usher for many years. He was a faithful Christian role model. He was a
member Knights of Columbus and the VFW, all of Great Bend. He was a World War
II veteran and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He loved the Kansas City
Royals, gardening, and reading his bible, but especially loved his
grandchildren and dogs, Max and Molly. 

Survivors
include, his wife, Alma Suppes; his children, Shirley Philippi and husband
Steve of Gilbert, Ariz., Ginger Herrman and husband Mark of Great Bend, Margie
Bowsher and husband Mark of Richmond, Tex., Richard Suppes and wife Rhonda of
Hutchinson, J.R. Suppes and wife Brenda of Great Bend, Bernie Suppes and wife
Laura of St. John, Dale Suppes of Great Bend, Tammy Priest and husband Tim of
Green Valley, Ariz., and Stacy Suppes and Jerry Dale of Derby; 22
grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two
sister in laws, Mary Louise Suppes of Otis, and Elsie Suppes of Smith Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lynda Garrett; five
brothers, Tony and Agnes Suppes, Primus and Delores Suppes, Reinhold and Ruby
Suppes, Clarence Suppes, and Julius Suppes; two sisters, Helen and Herbert
Schuckman, and Ruth and Eddie Engel; and two great grandchildren, Bailiegh Kay
Suppes and Bentley Lintz.

Keller Becker, 79, passed away September 23, 2020, at Almost Home, Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born September 11, 1941, in Great
Bend, to Marion Eustace “M.E.” and Ulanda (Schartz) Marmie.&nbsp; Karen was a 1959 graduate of Great Bend High
School and continued her education at Emporia State Teacher’s College.&nbsp; Karen married Norman C. Keller October 21,
1961, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Norman passed away
January 5, 1999.&nbsp; She then married Wayne A.
Becker May 4, 2001, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Wayne
passed away November 5, 2008.

Karen was a life time
resident of the Great Bend area.&nbsp; Following her schooling she was employed
as an administrative assistant for Central Kansas Electric Co-op.&nbsp; After
she and Norman began their family, Karen was a homemaker, avid volunteer and
active supporter in Norman's business, Keller Real Estate and Insurance. Karen
was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church.&nbsp;
She was a founding member and served as President and board member for the Holy
Family School Endowment.&nbsp; She spent countless hours volunteering for the
church and school including being a member of Altar Society, Parish Pastoral
committee and attending Adoration Chapel.&nbsp; Karen served her community as a
board member for Golden Belt Community Concert and a member of the Great Bend
Progress Club and Great Bend Area Panhellenic.&nbsp; Karen was incredibly
social and loved gathering with friends and family.&nbsp; She had lifelong
friendships from several bridge clubs and coffee and dinner groups.&nbsp; Above
all she cherished her time with family, enjoying every event and special
occasion.&nbsp; She will always be remembered for her bright smile, true
kindness and incredible generosity.

Survivors include, two
sons, Kevin Keller and wife Lori, and Jeff Keller and wife Kathie, all of Great
Bend; a daughter, Kim Meeds and husband Blaine of Anchorage, Alaska; seven
grandchildren, Grant Keller, Alyssa Keller, Sarah Keller, Neal Keller, Katie
Meeds, Maggie Meeds and Claire Meeds; Two brothers, Dave Marmie and wife
Sherri, and Jerry Marmie and wife Linda, and their respective families;
Norman's sister Janice Becker and husband Jerry, and sister-in-law, Jerene
Keller, and their respective families; Wayne's children Ricky Becker, Tammy
Hayden, Teri Stephenson, and their respective families; Wayne's sisters, Linda
Sisson, Jean Radke and Ann Engel, and their respective families. 

She was preceded in

“Jim” Thurman, 95, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Almost Home, Great
Bend. He was born May 30, 1925 at Larned, KS, the son of Clair W. and Bess P.
(Hawkins) Thurman.&nbsp; He was raised in
Rozel and entered the U.S. Army in 1943 upon his graduation from Rozel High
School.&nbsp; Jim married Darlene Z. Nelson of
Larned, KS January 23, 1947.&nbsp; He
graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College in 1949.&nbsp; In 2000, he retired from a long career as an
independent insurance agent in Great Bend.&nbsp;
He was a former high school and college football and basketball
official.&nbsp; He also served as a former
mayor and city councilman of Great Bend.

Jim was a
charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the Lions
Club and VFW, all of Great Bend.

Survivors
include 5 children, Pamala Larsen (Tom Thompson) of Loveland, CO, Craig Thurman
(Mary) of Overland Park, KS, Douglas (Judy) of Hays, KS, Denise Parker (Dan
Pfannenstiel) of Dodge City, KS, and Marisa (Kevin) Struckhoff of Windsor, CO;
15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren plus 2 on the way; a sister-in-law,
Gwyneth Frack, of Garden City, KS; three nieces and one nephew.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his wife,
Darlene; his parents; a son in law, Randy Larsen; and a great granddaughter,
Finley Grace Taylor.

Gatterman, 65, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 21, 2020 at her home
in Larned.&nbsp;

She was born February 23, 1955 in Larned; the daughter of
Stanley and Geraldine (Hogan) Young.

She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1973, and
Hutchinson Junior College in 1975, where she was a member and Captain of the
Dragon Dolls dance team.&nbsp; In 1977, she
earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics and Education from Kansas
State University.&nbsp; She later obtained a
Masters of Science degree from Friends University.

Ann married Bruce Gatterman on August 5, 1978 in Kinsley, and
they resided in Larned their entire married life.&nbsp; She was a longstanding member of her bridge
club and Larned Ladies Golf.&nbsp; Ann was a
volunteer for the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary, and a founding
member of the “Friday Night Fright Club”.&nbsp;
She was a proud member of the Bronze National Leadership Circle of the
Kansas State University Ahearn Fund.

Ann taught in the Fort Larned school district for 37 years,
retiring in 2015, but continued to substitute teach up to the time of her
death.&nbsp; She treasured her years spent in
teaching and enjoyed watching former students progress through life.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Lindsay (Mitch)
Walter, Wichita; son, Anthony “Tony” (Misha) Gatterman, Denver; 4 grandsons,
Cal, Davis, and Archie Walter, and Beau Gatterman; sister, Susan Young, Bonner
Springs; her “second mother” Norma Gatterman, Larned; nieces, Tessa (Eric)
Schwarz, Melissa Bennett (Jon), Christina Gatterman, and a nephew Travis
Young.&nbsp; 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a Brother,
Larry Young.

Her best times were with her husband, family and friends,
going to events of her children and grandchildren, cooking, KSU football and
basketball games, walking her 4-legged friend Sunny, and refereeing backyard
squirrel hunting.

&nbsp;Ricky J. “Rick” Ogden, age 62 years of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 18, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rick was born on June 26, 1958 at Great Bend to Richard Eugene Sr. and Verna (Wiggs) Ogden.&nbsp;&nbsp;He grew up in Ellinwood, Kansas and later moved to Great Bend. He was then united in marriage to Iris A. Blank on August 4, 1984 at Holyrood, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;A lifetime resident of Great Bend, Rick worked as a Truck Driver most of his life. having worked for Venture Corporation in Great Bend for 19 years. Following came Stone Sand &amp; Gravel in Great Bend, Bob’s Oilfield Service in Ellinwood, lastly working for Chism’s Trash Service in Great Bend.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rick’ most fun work was being a Pit Crew member (with his closest friends, who preferred to call him “Jaws”) at Circle Track Races around Kansas. Rick loved collecting Hot Wheels cars NASCAR, and spending time with family and friends, but&nbsp;enjoyed the most spending time with the grandkids.&nbsp;

Hospital, Ellinwood, KS. He was born June 26, 1930, on the family farm near
Ogallah, KS, to John and Barbara (Weaver) Mong.

Clayton was a resident of Great Bend since 1957, coming from
Russell Springs, KS. He was united in marriage to Pauline Pierce on September
2, 1951, at her family’s farm near Hill City, KS. 

He worked with animals his entire life. From his family farm
near Ogallah, at Clarance Hanna Farm, Wakeeney Livestock Commission, Riverside
Cattle Co., and Thies Packing Co., as a farm hand, livestock buyer to a truck driver
hauling livestock and milk. 

Survivors include, a daughter, Barbara Bitnoff of Belpre, KS; a
son, Clinton Mong and wife Cindy of Kansas, OK; a brother, Charles Mong and
wife Donna of Wakeeney, KS; a sister, Corlene Mong of Ogallah, KS; ten
grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Pauline Mong; a son, Anthony Mong; and five brothers, Curtis Mong,
Clyde Mong, Clarence Mong, Clifford Mong, and Carroll Mong. 

Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at a later

as a Nurse Aide for many years and then worked as a waitress for the former Black
Angus Restaurant
for several years.&nbsp; She was united in
marriage to Irvin J. Burton on September 24, 1988 at Great
Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; Betty loved reading and gardening, taking
care of her grandkids, and she and Irvin were avid campers.&nbsp; She loved taking care of her dog, Molly.&nbsp; Betty was a longtime member of the First

Dorothy Marlene (Dittrick) Panning, 87, passed away at Woodhaven
Care center in Ellinwood, KS on Sept. 14th, 2020. Dorothy was born in
Springfield, MO on Aug. 30, 1933 to parents Charles &amp; Valeria (Wilson)
Dittrick. She grew up in Great Bend and was a lifetime Ellinwood resident.
Dorothy married Larry Panning Nov. 18th, 1951 in Manhattan, KS. He survives.
Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, past President of the LWML,
member of Tri Circle Club, Sweet Adelines (Great Bend), Ellinwood card
club,&nbsp; 4-H Leader and Grove Park golf club.

Survivors include husband, Larry Panning, Ellinwood, KS;
children, Susan Dannebohm, Ellinwood, KS, Sandy Eggers, Ellinwood, KS, David
(Marlene), Great Bend, KS,Terry Panning (Desa), Ellinwood, KS, Kevin Panning,
Wichita, KS. Additional survivors include 12 grandchildren and 23

“Bubba” Weese Jr., 69, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020, at his home in
Great Bend. He was born November 24, 1950, in Pratt the son of Calvin and Helen
(Miller) Weese.

Memorial Service
will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Church of Christ
in Great Bend, with his nephews T.R. Stewart and Luke Weese presiding.
Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. A memorial is
suggested to the Church of Christ, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
