Darlene P. Jones, age 75 years, of Great Bend, Kansas passed away at her home in Great Bend on Friday morning, October 2, 2020. Darlene was born on May 4, 1945 in South Wales to Fred and Cecelia (Gale) Furrey. She had been a resident of Great Bend since 1989, where she worked as a Dispatcher for the Great Bend Police Department and as a Secretary for both Suchy Construction and Miller Plastics before her retirement. Darlene loved to read and watch television.
She is survived by two grandchildren: Connor Furrey and Ashley LaMunyon; two great-grandchildren: Raylynn and Alaina; two brothers: Mike Furrey of Great Bend, Kansas and Doug Furrey of Longview, Washington; three sisters: Lisa (and Herb) Phillips of Heizer, Kansas and Phyllis McCormick and Bonnie Furrey, both of Great Bend, Kansas; nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, one son Martin Henry Furrey, one daughter Jamie Lynn Jones, and one brother Bruce Furrey.
There will be no services. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials be given to the Golden Belt Humane Society or the Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice (both of Great Bend) in Darleneās memory.
