The pair were suspended Wednesday and put under formal suspicion in an investigation overseen by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). They now cannot compete in a World Cup event in Oslo that starts Thursday. Three Norwegian team officials are also suspended.

He died Tuesday in Louisville, Kentucky. Bridgeman was a fixture in Louisville after his playing days. Mayor Craig Greenberg said the city had “lost a kind, generous and groundbreaking legend.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract with offensive tackle Jaylon Moore and a one-year, $3.5 million contract with his former 49ers teammate Elijah Mitchell, two people familiar with the deals told The Associated Press.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because neither contract has become official.

The Chiefs spent the entire season searching for an upgrade at left tackle after rookie Kingsley Suamataia and second-year pro Wanya Morris struggled to protect Patrick Mahomes. They ultimately slid All-Pro guard Joe Thuney to tackle for the stretch run and the playoffs, but they were still unable to protect Mahomes in a lopsided Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia.

Last week, the Chiefs traded Thuney to the Bears for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 draft, creating another hole along their offensive line. It is possible that Suamataia transitions from tackle to guard and gets the first chance at that spot.

The trade nevertheless left Kansas City with one fewer option to play offensive tackle. And when the Ravens signed Ronnie Stanley to a three-year, $60 million contract to keep the best potential option off the free-agent market, the Chiefs began to look elsewhere, and they ultimately settled on a tackle in Moore who appeared in 55 games the past four years in San Francisco.

The 27-year-old Moore was picked by the 49ers in the fifth round out of the 2021 draft of Western Michigan. And while he only started 12 games for San Francisco, five of them came late last season, and he fared well in the expanded role.

The Chiefs could still draft an offensive tackle to provide competition or serve as an understudy, but Moore at least solidifies one of their biggest holes. They already have signed center Creed Humphrey to a long-term deal and are working on an extension for right guard Trey Smith, whom they used the franchise tag on earlier in the offseason.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs signed the 26-year-old Mitchell in the hopes he can revitalized an injury-prone career in Kansas City.

Mitchell wowed scouts at the NFL combine in 2021, when he ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash, and he ran for nearly 1,000 yards in just 11 games as a rookie. But Mitchell only appeared in five games the following year because of knee injuries, and 11 games two seasons ago, before landing on the reserve/injured list during last year's roster cuts because of a hamstring injury.

The only other running backs on the Kansas City roster had been Isiah Pacheco, who is entering a contract year after missing a portion of last season because of an injury, along with journeyman Keontay Ingram and hybrid-fullback Carson Steele.

Their third-down back, Samaje Perine, is a free agent along with Kareem Hunt, who played well for the Chiefs after Pacheco got hurt. Hunt went unsigned last offseason because of an injury but is expected to get plenty of offers this offseason.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The new-look Big 12 Tournament begins with the first of three straight quadruple-headers Tuesday, and the addition of four new programs and the departure of Texas and Oklahoma aren’t the only things that promise to make it look a bit different.

Kansas as the No. 6 seed for a second straight year? Cincinnati playing on the opening day as the No. 13 seed?

Nobody would have expected that at the start of the season.

But after the first run through the expanded 16-team league crowned Houston the regular-season champion and No. 1 seed, and set up the rest of the bracket for the T-Mobile Center, that is exactly what the Big 12 is looking at this week.

“I still think there's enough gas in the tank that we can play our best moving forward,” said Kansas coach Bill Self, whose team was preseason No. 1 in the AP Top 25 but will now play No. 11 seed Utah or No. 14 seed UCF in Wednesday's second round.

“We needed confidence," Self said after a win over Arizona on Saturday, "from the way the game went, from playing well, from an energy standpoint, from falling behind, from losing all momentum, from players making plays on their own to rallying together.

“This game from a team standpoint had a lot of good things in it that should give us confidence moving forward.”

Meanwhile, the Bearcats were ranked as high as No. 14 in early December before collapsing in conference play. They went just 7-13 against Big 12 teams to fall into a tie with UCF and ahead of only Arizona State and Colorado. Now, Wes Miller's team is in the position of needing a big run — perhaps at least to the title game — to reach the NCAA Tournament.

The Bearcats have played in the NIT each of the past two seasons.

As for the best of the league's newcomers, Arizona tied for third in the standings but earned the No. 3 seed ahead of BYU due to tiebreaker procedures. That means the Wildcats could face Kansas again in Thursday's quarterfinal round.

“We've got a couple of days to recover and get our minds right and build, build for this postseason,” Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd said. “Obviously I got really high standards for myself and the program and I wish we were higher than third, but it's where we ended up. I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of being third in the Big 12. So now we got to prepare for the conference tournament and see what we can do. I'm looking forward to the Big 12 Tournament and experiencing that.”

Utah earned the No. 11 seed for its first Big 12 tourney, despite firing coach Craig Smith a few weeks ago, and will play UCF on Tuesday. Arizona State landed the No. 15 seed and will play No. 10 seed Kansas State. And Colorado, which returned to the Big 12 after a foray in the Pac-12, is seeded last and will open against No. 9 seed TCU on Tuesday.

Houston rolls into town having won 10 straight, including victories over No. 2 seed Texas Tech and fifth-seeded Iowa State. In fact, the Cougars have lost just once since November — an 82-81 overtime loss to the Red Raiders on Feb. 1.

The Cougars, who were beset by injuries at the time, lost to Iowa State in the Big 12 title game last season.

“There’s a winning DNA that this program has had for a long time that all the new players have to buy into, and it can’t be one foot in, one foot out. You have to surrender to this crazy culture that we have,” Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson said. “I don’t think by any stretch of the imagination are we a great team, (but) we are a good team.”

Iowa State will play the Cincinnati-Oklahoma State winner in Wednesday’s second round. The Cyclones were ranked as high as No. 2 in the AP Top 25 earlier this season before injuries and illnesses set in. They wound up losing three of their last five in the regular season, including a loss to the Cowboys in Stillwater late last month.

The Utes will be led by interim coach Josh Eilert in Kansas City, despite announcing last week the hiring of former star Alex Jensen as their next head coach. Jensen had been serving as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks.

"I had a great talk with him,” Eilert said. “We had a great conversation and he’s leaning on me to lead the program.”

New-look Big 12 Tournament set to begin Tuesday in Kansas City with Houston as the No. 1 seed

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech sophomore forward JT Toppin was selected by Big 12 coaches as the league's player and newcomer of the year in a vote revealed Monday, a day before the start of the 16-team league's postseason tournament.

Toppin, a transfer from New Mexico, has 14 double-doubles and is the only Big 12 player who ranks top three in scoring (18.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg). He is the first Big 12 player in the league's 29 seasons to be voted by coaches as the top player and top newcomer in the same season.

Houston's Kelvin Sampson was selected by his peers as the Big 12's top coach. The second-ranked Cougars (27-4, 19-1 Big 12) have won the conference title in both seasons since joining the league, becoming the first program to join a major conference and win back-to-back regular-season titles since Idaho won the Pacific Coast Conference in the 1921-22 and 1922-23 seasons.

Houston forward Joseph Tugler was voted defensive player of the year and guard LJ Cryer the top scholar-athlete.

Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe was voted the Big 12’s top freshman, BYU’s Richie Saunders was chosen as the league’s most improved player, and Curtis Jones of fifth-seeded Iowa State was voted the top sixth man.

Cryer, Jones, Saunders and Toppin joined Caleb Love of Arizona, Norchad Omier of Baylor, J’Wan Roberts of Houston, Hunter Dickinson of Kansas, Darrion Williams of Texas Tech and Javon Small of West Virginia on the coaches’ All-Big 12 first team.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech sophomore forward JT Toppin was selected by Big 12 coaches as the league's player and newcomer of the year in a vote revealed Monday, a day before the start of the 16-team league's postseason tournament.Toppin, a transfer from New Mexico, has 14 double-doubles and is the only Big 12 player who ranks top three in scoring (18.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg). He is the first Big 12 player in the league's 29 seasons to be voted by coaches as the top player and top newcomer in the same season.Houston's Kelvin Sampson was selected by his peers as the Big 12's top coach. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — This was a time early in the season when Kansas seemed to be an insurmountable juggernaut, full of high-profile transfers such as Zeke Mayo and AJ Storr, All-American candidates such as Hunter Dickinson and veterans accustomed to winning.

They were the preseason No. 1 in the AP Top 25. And for several weeks, the Jayhawks played like it.

But things hardly went according to script the rest of the season. They lost to longtime rival Missouri in a non-conference game, and dropped rare home games to West Virginia, Houston and Texas Tech. They plummeted out of the Top 25 altogether, ending a run of 80 consecutive weeks in the poll, and tumbled down the Big 12 standings.

Now, they enter their conference tournament as the No. 6 seed. And perhaps most importantly, they could be staring at the same seeding — or worse — in the NCAA tourney, where coach Bill Self's teams have never been worse than a No. 4.

“I think we're talented enough. We were the preseason No. 1 team in the country for a reason,” Dickinson said after a confidence-boosting win over Arizona on Saturday. “We have the talent. But it's just a matter of going out there and showing it.”

They will get their chance beginning Wednesday, when they play Utah or UCF in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament.

Kansas isn't the only once-highly ranked team trying to build some late-season momentum, though. In fact, the Jayhawks are one of 14 teams that were ranked in the preseason poll but no longer reside in it. Many are still locks to make the NCAA field Sunday, but others are teetering on the bubble and a couple may need to win their league tournaments just to qualify.

Arizona dropped from the Top 25 this week after its loss at Allen Fieldhouse, but the No. 3 seed in the Big 12 tourney is still a good bet for a good seed on Selection Sunday. So is two-time reigning national champion UConn, which was ranked third in the preseason Top 25 but dropped out in early February and is seeded third in the Big East Tournament.

Other unranked locks include Creighton, the second seed in the Big East; Gonzaga, the No. 2 seed in the West Coast behind Saint Mary's; and Ole Miss, which was ranked as high as No. 16 this season and is seeded eighth in the SEC tourney.

Baylor was ranked eighth in the preseason Top 25 but fell out by mid-January, and going 4-6 over its final 10 games ahead of the Big 12 tourney — where it is seeded seventh — hardly helps. Still, the Bears of VJ Edgecomb and Co. took second-ranked Houston to the wire last weekend, and picking up a win in Kansas City this week should be enough.

Arkansas, which was preseason No. 16, enters the SEC tourney having won four of five, and a win or two as the No. 9 seed could be important. The same goes for preseason No. 17 Indiana, which is likewise seeded ninth in the Big Ten Tournament.

North Carolina is starting to resemble the preseason No. 9 in the country, but a slew of early losses — Stanford, Wake Forest, Pitt and Duke during one five-game stretch — has made life tough for the Tar Heels. They're seeded fifth in the ACC and could need at least two wins to make the NCAA field, and perhaps to save coach Hubert Davis' job.

Texas also could be playing for its coach, Rodney Terry, along with an NCAA berth. The Longhorns were preseason No. 19 but out by early January. They are are seeded 13th in the SEC and open with fellow bubble-dweller Vanderbilt on Wednesday.

Dodgers’ head team physician, will operate. Cole experienced
discomfort following his second spring training outing Thursday. New
York also is missing another starting pitcher, AL Rookie of the Year

a strained lat muscle.

Manchester United has unveiled plans to build the biggest stadium in
the United Kingdom. A proposed 100,000-seater arena would be the
“world’s greatest football stadium,” part owner Jim Ratcliffe
says. Under the plans, the 20-time English champion says it will
build next to its existing Old Trafford ground. That means it will
not need to relocate during the construction process. United did not
say how much the stadium would cost to build or reveal a timeline for
its completion. British billionaire Ratcliffe paid $1.3 billion for
an initial 25% stake in United last year and made the construction of
a new stadium one of his priorities.

Quarterback Sam Darnold has agreed on a three-year, $100.5 million
contract with the Seattle Seahawks, a person with knowledge of the

Vikings in 2024, leading them to 14 wins. He replaces Geno Smith, who
was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders last week.

New York Jets and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin
Fields have agreed to a two-year contract worth $40 million. Fields
would step in as New York’s starter in place of Aaron Rodgers, who
the Jets announced last month they are moving forward without after
two seasons. The deal for Fields includes $30 million guaranteed,
according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity
because the agreement wasn’t announced by the team. The Jets also
agreed to terms with former Baltimore cornerback Brandon Stephens and
former Jacksonville safety Andre Cisco.

Kansas- The Kansas
Wrestling Coaches Association (KWCA) has announced the high school
senior wrestlers who have accepted their invitation to wrestle in the
2nd annual KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals. 


The KWCA Kansas
Shrine Duals will be held on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Fugate
Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.
Gates open at 1:00 pm and the opening ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm.
Tickets,event information, apparel and advertising opportunities are
available at www.KansasShrineDuals.com.

The KWCA and the
Shrine Bowl of Kansas, Inc worked together to create the Kansas
Shrine Duals in 2024 as a senior all-star wrestling event for a
cause. All net proceeds from the KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals benefit
Shriners Children’s. The inaugural event in 2024 raised $25,000 for
Shriners Children’s. The Shrine Bowl of Kansas, Inc is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit charity that produces annual events and related activities,
with net proceeds benefiting Shriners Children’s. 


Shriners Children’s
is a world-renowned healthcare system with hospitals, outpatient
clinics, ambulatory care centers and outreach locations across North
America, dedicated to improving the lives of children every day by
providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research, and
outstanding teaching programs for medical professionals. Children up
to the age of 18 are eligible for care and receive all services in a
family-centered environment, regardless of the patients' ability to
pay.

2025 KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals Rosters Announced

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – SIUE men's basketball captured its first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship, defeating top-seed Southeast Missouri 69-48 at the Ford Center Saturday. The win secures the Cougars' first title and the first-ever trip to the Division I basketball championship.

SIUE (22-11) will learn its tournament fate Sun., March 16 when the NCAA Brackets are revealed at 5 p.m. CT.

The Cougars held the league's highest scoring team to its lowest point total of the season.

The Cougars led by 11 (35-24) at half and withstood a furious run from the Redhawks at the start of the second half. SEMO tied the score at 38 but never overtook the Cougars. The Cougars put the Redhawks away with a 19-2 run.
