Noah Williams of the Barton Community College men's basketball team has been named the Week 8 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a record-setting performance in the Cougars' 118-113 upset of No. 19 Butler Community College on Saturday night.
In the Cougars' first game back from the holiday break, Williams delivered a career-high 33 points while rewriting the program record book at the free throw line. The freshman went 25-for-29 at the charity stripe (86.2%), setting new single-game program records for both free throws made and attempted, while adding nine rebounds in the victory. Williams scored 21 of his 33 points in the second half, helping Barton withstand the Grizzlies' second half rally while sealing the upset victory.
The record-setting night extended beyond the individual effort, as Barton's 118 points marked the fourth highest scoring output in program history. The Cougars also established new single-game team record by attempting 71 free throws, eclipsing the previous mark by 11, and converting 50, breaking the former record by nine makes while shooting 70.4 percent from the stripe.
