senior wrestlers who have accepted their invitation to wrestle in the
2nd annual KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals. 


The KWCA Kansas
Shrine Duals will be held on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Fugate
Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.
Gates open at 1:00 pm and the opening ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm.

2025 KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals Rosters Announced

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – SIUE men's basketball captured its first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship, defeating top-seed Southeast Missouri 69-48 at the Ford Center Saturday. The win secures the Cougars' first title and the first-ever trip to the Division I basketball championship.

SIUE (22-11) will learn its tournament fate Sun., March 16 when the NCAA Brackets are revealed at 5 p.m. CT.

The Cougars held the league's highest scoring team to its lowest point total of the season.

The Cougars led by 11 (35-24) at half and withstood a furious run from the Redhawks at the start of the second half. SEMO tied the score at 38 but never overtook the Cougars. The Cougars put the Redhawks away with a 19-2 run.

<a href="https://siuecougars.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/ray-sean-taylor/12070">Ray'Sean Taylor</a>&nbsp;led all scorers with 20 points and in the process became SIUE's all-time leading scorer. Taylor now has 1,952 points in his career. Taylor earned Most Valuable Player honors after scoring 24 points in the semifinal.

Former Barton players secure bid for NCAA D-I Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs and linebacker Nick Bolton have agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract that keeps the quarterback of their defense out of free agency, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Sunday.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been announced.

The Chiefs selected the 24-year-old Bolton in the second round of the 2021 draft out of Missouri, making the Texas native a homegrown star of sorts. He has started 53 of the 57 regular-season games he has played for Kansas City over the past four seasons, and helped the Chiefs win a pair of Super Bowl rings and make it to the big game again this past season.

Bolton's best season came in 2022, when he made 180 tackles in 17 games while picking off a pair of passes for a team that ultimately beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl. He was limited to eight games because of injuries two years ago, and this past season appeared in 16 games, making 106 tackles with an interception and a career-high three sacks.

Most importantly, the Chiefs value Bolton's high IQ in coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's complex scheme. He wears the helmet with the radio connection to the coaching staff, and he's responsible for making sure the rest of the defense is properly aligned.

The Chiefs have been busy as they prepare for the start of free agency this week.

This past Wednesday, the Chiefs traded All-Pro offensive guard Joe Thuney to the Bears for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 draft. The decision to deal the 32-year-old Thuney was largely a financial one, freeing up $16 million in salary cap space that the Chiefs planned to use to help re-sign some of their stars — such as Bolton — and address other needs.

The Chiefs have used the franchise tag on Pro Bowl offensive guard Trey Smith, which means they are obligated to pay him $23.4 million next season unless the side work out a long-term deal. Some of the money they saved from Thuney's contract they could use to sign the 25-year-old Smith to a long-term contract extension.

They also used some of the salary cap space Saturday when the Chiefs agreed with wide receiver Marquise Brown on an $11 million contract for next season. The deal is similar to the one-year contract Brown signed last season, when he hoped he could parlay a big season with quarterback Patrick Mahomes into a lucrative long-term contract.

Instead, Brown dislocated a shoulder joint on the first snap of the preseason, and surgery kept Brown out until Week 15 of the regular season. KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Women's Basketball fell in the MIAA Tournament Championship Game on Sunday at Municipal Auditorium. Pittsburg State raced out of the gate to a 9-0 lead and the Tigers struggled to find their rhythm early, ultimately leading to an 81-73 victory for the Gorillas. FHSU is now 27-4 overall, while PSU moved to 29-3 overall. Both teams will await their NCAA Tournament future tonight during the selection show at 9:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.

Fort Hays State fell down 22-10 after one quarter and the lead grew as large as 22 in the first half for the Gorillas. Eventually PSU took a 16-point lead (43-27) to the locker room. The Gorillas shot nearly 50 percent in the first half, while FHSU struggled to just 33.3 percent.

The Tigers lost two more points of ground in the third quarter and went into the fourth down 18. The Gorillas held a 24-point lead with 8:49 to play, but the Tigers found a lot of success late and trimmed the final score all the way back down to an eight-point margin. FHSU had the lead down to six with six seconds to play.

Katie Wagner DeGarmo, the MIAA Player of the Year, moved into the all-time lead for scoring and rebounds at the MIAA Tournament. She had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. She finished with 227 points and 117 rebounds in her MIAA Tournament career.

Olivia Hollenbeck and Talexa Weeter tied for high-point honors for the Tigers, each with 17. Hollenbeck was just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. Brooke Loewe also was close to a double-double with 15 points and nine assists. Weeter and DeGarmo were named to the all-tournament team for their success over three contests.

Grace Pyle led the Gorillas with 23 points, while Karenna Gerber added 19. All Gorillas that played in the game scored.

For Fort Hays State, it was their sixth appearance in the MIAA Championship game over the last eight MIAA Tournaments.

Tiger Women Fall Short to Gorillas in MIAA Championship Game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Men's Basketball claimed its second MIAA Tournament title with a 72-71 win over Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon (Mar. 9) at Municipal Auditorium. The Tigers grabbed the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will find out their opponent tonight during the NCAA selection show at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com. The Tigers moved to 22-9 overall, while the Bronchos finished their season at 19-13 overall.

The Tigers came out on the good end of a back-and-forth battle that saw 18 lead changes and 12 ties throughout. The last minute was full of drama as Kyle Grill broke a tie and put the Tigers up three with just under a minute to play. But just a few moments later, Israel Hart launched about a 30-foot 3-point field goal, made it, and was fouled. He hit the free throw to put the Bronchos up one with 47 seconds to go. Kaleb Hammeke drew a foul with 27 seconds to go and hit both free throws to put the Tigers on top. Then in typical Tiger fashion, defense punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament as they got a defensive stop just before the buzzer to hang on by a point.

Both teams struggled to find any separation in the first half. Fort Hays State held the biggest lead of the half, a seven-point advantage with the score at 29-22. However, UCO outscored FHSU 14-6 over the final six minutes of the half to take a 36-35 lead at halftime.

With about 14:30 to go in the game, UCO held its largest lead of seven points by a score of 48-41. But the Tigers showed grit and countered with a 9-0 run to take the lead back at 50-48. The Tigers held a six-point lead of 67-61 with 3:30 to play, but the Bronchos countered with a 6-0 run to even the score and set up the drama in the final minute of the game that bounced the Tigers' way.

Kaleb Hammeke finished with a team-high 22 points. He was a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line, hitting his most crucial pair of the game. He was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Kyle Grill was also named to the All-Tournament Team, making his case with a 17-point performance going 7-of-10 from the field with three 3-point field goals. Dan Mukuna provided a big stretch of minutes in the second half for the Tigers and finished with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Hammeke dished out a team-high four assists. Lucas Hammeke was critical in FHSU's 9-0 run in the second half and finished with six points.

Hart led UCO with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds. He also tied for his team's lead in assists with four. Jacobi Sebock had 16 points and JV Seat added 11. Hart and Seat were named to the all-tournament team as well.

Tigers Win Instant Classic MIAA Championship Game 72-71 Over Bronchos

KANSAS CITY, Mo.
(AP) — Tournament MVP Hailey Van Lith had 20 points, including a
key bucket with 48.8 seconds left to give TCU a four-point lead, as
top-seeded TCU beat No. 2 seed Baylor 64-59 to win the program's
first Big 12 Championship. The Horned Frogs won their first
conference tournament title since 2005, when they were members of
Conference USA. TCU made its first appearance in the Big 12 title
game, while Baylor leads the conference with 16 appearances and 11
titles (Oklahoma, which is now a member of the SEC, is second with
four). Sedona Prince had 12 points and 14 rebounds for No. 8 TCU

(AP) — NFL MVP Josh Allen was rewarded with a contract extension
worth $330 million, with an NFL record $250 million of it guaranteed,
which makes him among the league’s highest-paid players. The
Buffalo Bills announced the agreement, while two people with
knowledge of the deal revealed the contract’s value to The
Associated Press. The people spoke to the AP on the condition of
anonymity because the Bills did not release that figure, which was
first reported by ESPN.com. The new contract adds two years to
Allen’s contract and locks the 28-year-old in through the 2030

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been finalized.

The Chiefs signed Brown to a similar one-year contract last season, when “Hollywood” Brown hoped he could parlay a big season with quarterback Patrick Mahomes into a lucrative long-term contract. Instead, he dislocated a shoulder joint on the first snap of the preseason, and surgery kept Brown out until Week 15 of the regular season.

Brown had nine catches for 91 yards in two games before sitting out the final week of the season. He added five catches for 50 yards in the playoffs, including two for 15 yards in the Chiefs' 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

The 27-year-old Brown has been an exciting downfield option when he's been healthy, but he has struggled with injuries during his six-year NFL career. Only once has he managed to play at least 16 games in a full season.

The Chiefs were poised to lose Brown along with DeAndre Hopkins, Justin Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman in free agency, depleting a wide receiver group that they have been trying to build for years. The decision to sign Brown means they will have at least one veteran alongside young players Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice going into next season.

Earlier Saturday, Worthy was released after a district attorney in Texas declined to pursue charges following an arrest in which the wide receiver had been accused of felony domestic violence. Records showed Worthy had been arrested Friday by deputies and held in the county jail on a charge of assault on a family or household member.

The online court listing for the case was updated to “dismissed/declined” later Saturday.

The Chiefs told The Associated Press on Saturday that they were aware of the situation and still gathering information.

Meanwhile, Rice is awaiting resolution of at least two civil lawsuits and numerous criminal charges after he admitted to driving a Lamborghini that was involved in a high-speed crash in March 2024 on a Dallas freeway.

The Barton Community College wrestling team saw its' season end on day one of the 2025 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships held at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Friday.

With five wrestlers competing and representing the Cougars, Barton finished the National Tournament with 12 total points to place 37th out of 58 teams that had representatives competing in the two-day tournament.

Individually, Skyler McMullen (141-pounds) and Jarret Mader (149-pounds) mended the deepest tournament runs, each reaching the consolation second round of 16 before bowing out finishing with 2-2 records.

Receiving a bye to begin his tournament quest, McMullin put together two straight wins in the consolation bracket virtue of falls following a first bout defeat to 12th seeded Jacob Finlinson of Snow. In his first consolation round match, McMullen needed just 4:55 to pin Ridgewater's Kyler Sherk with his second back flatting coming in quick stoppage of 59-seconds to advance into the second round of 16 before falling to Ethan Boulton of North Idaho.

Drawing one of Barton's two opening round matches, Mader slipped to the backside suffering a heartbreaking late 4-3 decision to Josh Hannan of Clackamas. Receiving a bye to begin his backside climb, Mader distributed a pair of tech falls for his lone victories beginning with 16th seed Nicholas Ewan of Jamestown winning 18-3 with the second 15-point victory coming in his next tilt with a 17-2 result over Ryan Findlay of Thaddeus Stevens. Mader's two-year Barton career would conclude suffering a late first period fall to Silas Thompson of Northeastern.

Mader and McMullen fashion pair of victories at National Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The ninth-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team avenged a pair of regular season losses against Missouri Western with a 77-73 win in the semifinal round of the 2025 MIAA Championship presented by Southern Bank on Saturday (March 8).

With the win the Tigers (27-3) will move on to the conference tournament title game on Sunday afternoon (March 9) where they will face off with No. 8 Pittsburg State for the second consecutive season. The women's game is scheduled to tip off at 3:30 p.m. after the Tiger men take on Central Oklahoma in the other conference championship game beginning at 1 p.m.

The Griffons (20-9) quickly built an eight-point lead in the first quarter after pouring in 3-of-6 from behind the arc in the opening quarter. A pair of Talexa Weeter 3-pointers allowed the Tigers to close within two by the end of the first frame, 19-17.

After scoring six points in the opening quarter, Katie Wagner DeGarmo quickly added five points in the first 62 seconds of the second frame to give the Tigers their first lead of the day, 22-19. Missouri Western later tied the score at 26 before a 3-pointer from Bailey Wilborn gave FHSU the lead for good midway through the second quarter.

Ellie Stearns added a 3-pointer soon after while Weeter hit two more layups, giving the sophomore 14 first-half points and stretching the Tiger lead as high as eight. But the Griffons were able to end the quarter on a 5-0 run, holding FHSU scoreless for more than four minutes to pull within 36-33 at the break.

Fort Hays State methodically pushed its lead back to eight midway through the third before a quick 6-0 Griffon run made it a two-point game, 46-44. The graduate student duo of DeGarmo and Olivia Hollenbeck answered with their own six-point run, padding the lead back to eight.

DeGarmo scored on the first possession of the fourth quarter, pushing the lead to double figures for the first time, 58-48. Fort Hays State later led by as many as 14, 64-50, with 7:25 to play.

No strangers to shaking off double-digit deficits against the Tigers after doing so twice in the regular season, the Griffons weren't done. Missouri Western poured in 4-of-7 from behind the arc down the stretch, helping the Griffons pull within one possession with 11 seconds to go.

Thanks to a 7-of-9 effort from the free-throw line over the final 63 seconds of action the Tigers were able to hold off the Griffon run once and for all.

The Tigers combined to shoot 51.7 percent from the floor (30-of-58), shooting 50 percent or better for the fourth time in the last five games and doing so for the 11th time this season.

DeGarmo led the team with 25 points and eight rebounds while finishing second on the squad with a season-high seven assists. The Maize, Kan. native now has 106 rebounds in 13 MIAA tournament games, tied for the most in a career in tournament history (Kathryn Flott, ESU, 2012-17). She also has 211 points in those games, two off the MIAA tournament scoring record (213 poitns, Shelley Foster, WU, 1992-95).

Two days after racking up a career-high 35 points, fourth-most in a game in tournament history, Weeter racked up 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks against the Griffons. Wilborn recorded 10 points, three assists and two steals after knocking down 3-of-5 from behind the arc, while Brooke Loewe distributed eight assists alongside seven points. Stearns hit a pair from behind the arc, totaling six points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Griffons also had a pair surpass the 20-point threshold, with first team All-MIAA pick Alyssa Bonilla totaling 26 points on five 3-pointers while Laura Toffali contributed 21 points.

Saturday Statewide Boys and Girls Scores

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Men's Basketball put on a display of what it does best on Saturday (Mar. 8) in the MIAA Tournament Semifinals at Municipal Auditorium. With the nation's top scoring defense, FHSU won 61-43 over Rogers State improving to 21-9 and moved on to Sunday's championship game. Rogers State closed its season at 23-10 overall.

The 43 points by Rogers State was a new low by a Tiger opponent in the MIAA Tournament. It was just one point off the tournament record of 42 that Pittsburg State was held to in 2008 by Northwest Missouri State. It was the third-lowest point total by a Tiger opponent this year and the sixth time this season they held an opponent inside of 50 points.

Fort Hays State had a couple of bursts in the first half to get some separation from Rogers State. A 12-3 run over about three and a half minutes gave the Tigers an eight-point lead of 17-9. They eventually ended the first half on a 6-0 run to take a 32-20 lead into halftime.

The Tigers really imposed their defensive will early in the second half, holding the Hillcats scoreless for the first six minutes after halftime. The run carried over from the first half reached 12-0 overall as the Tigers led by 18 before the Hillcats scored their first basket of the second frame. FHSU never let Rogers State closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Fort Hays State held Rogers State to just 31.3 percent shooting overall from the field. The Tigers countered with 42.6 percent shooting, hitting eight more field goals than the Hillcats. FHSU scored two more points at the free-throw line. FHSU outrebounded RSU 37-28 and held an eight-point advantage in points off turnovers.

Kaleb Hammeke led the Tigers with 18 points and five assists. Shaun Riley added 14 points on an efficient 5-of-7 effort from the field with a team-best three blocked shots. Traejon Davis led the Tigers in rebounds with six. All 11 available Tigers played in the game.

Anthony Marshall Jr. led the Hillcats with 11 points, while Caden Fry added 10.

Defensive Clinic Gives Tigers 18-Point Win over Hillcats in MIAA Semifinals

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Xavier Worthy was released Saturday after a district attorney in Texas declined to pursue charges against the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver following an arrest in which he had been accused of felony domestic violence.

Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick told the Austin American-Statesman his office had spoken with witnesses and was not accepting the case at this time. He also said Worthy and his lawyers were fully cooperating with the investigation.

Records showed that Worthy had been arrested Friday by deputies and held in the county jail on a charge of assault on a family or household member in which their breath was impeded, or choking in common terms. The online court listing for the case was updated to “dismissed/declined” later Saturday.

Williamson County includes parts of Austin, where Worthy played college football at the University of Texas.

In a statement, Worthy's attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, said their client was innocent of the charge against him. They said the allegation was made by a female who had been living in Worthy's home, and that she had been asked to leave the home multiple times over the last two weeks “upon discovery of her infidelity.”

“She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy,” the lawyers' statement said. “The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy's face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident he did not want to press charges against the complainant.”

Under Texas law, impeding breathing means “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of the person by applying pressure to the person’s throat or neck or by blocking the person’s nose or mouth.”

Worthy was chosen by the Chiefs with the 28th overall pick in last year's draft after setting the record for the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. He got off to a quick start by scoring a pair of touchdowns in his NFL debut, and after a midseason lull, he became the Chiefs' go-to wide receiver as they chased an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title.

Worthy finished with 59 catches for 638 yards and six TDs while running 20 times for 104 yards and three more scores.

He was one of the few bright spots for the Chiefs in a 40-22 loss to Philadelphia in the Super Bowl, too. Worthy caught all eight of his targets for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns at the Superdome in New Orleans.

The Chiefs came to rely on Worthy in part because of a season-ending injury to wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was coming off a brilliant rookie season of his own. Rice caught 24 passes for 288 yards and two TDs in four games before getting hurt.

Rice and another driver, Theodore Knox, were involved in a high-speed car crash in March 2024 that triggered a chain reaction on a highway in Dallas, close to where he had played college football at SMU. Rice is currently facing at least two civil lawsuits along with numerous criminal charges for his role in the wreck.

The Wildcats (20-11, 14-6) rallied for a brief lead before Dickinson took over, scoring 16 in the first half on 8-of-9 shooting, giving the Jayhawks a 39-30 halftime advantage.

Dickinson grabbed 10 rebounds for his 15th double-double of the year. He was 15 of 23 from the floor.

The Wildcats attempted a sideline inbounds lob into the key when Quinerly soared in to intercept the ball with a minute to go. She then drove into the lane for a floater that put West Virginia on top 71-69 with 44.2 seconds remaining.

Temira Poindexter missed a wide-open 3 from the right sideline before Sydney Shaw iced it with two free throws.

The fourth-seeded Mountaineers face No. 8 TCU, the top seed, in Saturday's semifinals.

Jordan Harrison scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half for West Virginia (24-6). Shaw added 13 points and Jordan Thomas 11.

Karter Alvord and Meleia Ingram of the Barton Community College softball team has been named the Week Five Division I KJCCC Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

The duo helped Barton open KJCCC play last week with a pair of sweeps over Seward County then Colby improving the Cougars to 7-5 on the season.

Batting .667 with five RBI out of the nine hole, Alvord collected at least two hits in each of the four games. The freshman shortstop began the week 5-of-7 with three RBI, including a double and her first collegiate home run in the sweep over Seward County, then three days later went 5-of-8 at Colby with another double and pair of RBI.

Freshman pitcher Meleia Ingram struck out 19, going 2-0 with a save in recording a decision in three of the Cougars' four conference opening victories last week.

Moving up into the number one starting role following a career high 11 strikeouts the last time on the diamond, Ingram picked up a pair of victories and a save in the Cougars' four outings. The freshman right-hander began the week throwing a two-hit, 8 strikeout game one victory against Seward County before adding another 4 strikeouts in two innings of relief in the back end of the doubleheader earning her second save of the year. On Saturday in Colby, Ingram struck out another 7 batters to get the game one victory improving to 4-2 on the season.

Barton is at home Saturday against Dodge City for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Keandre Kindell of the No. 14 Barton Community College men's basketball team has been tabbed the Week 16 KJCCC Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

The sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio fashioned an all-around week in Barton's pair of games averaging 22 points on 55.6 percent shooting with 6.5 assists, five rebounds and two steals per contest.

Kindall began his week fashioning an all-around stat line scoring 16 points highlighted behind a perfect 3-of-3 from long distance with a game high six assists, three rebounds and pair steals in Barton's victory over Colby.

Capping the week, Kindell once again directed the Cougar offense leading five in double-figure scoring 28 points going 10-for-18 (55.5%) from the field and dished out another game high seven assists while also contributing on the glass with seven rebounds in Barton's revenge win at Independence.
