Kansas is the only team in the country with at least 43 overall wins, 20 conference wins and 20 true road wins.&nbsp;The Jayhawks are tied for the second most wins of any power conference team in the nation. The 43 wins this season are also tied for the second most in school history and the most under Fitzgerald. Kansas ranks 16th in the nation with a .741 winning percentage.&nbsp;KU is one of two power conference teams in the country ranked in the top 11 nationally in both walks and home runs. The 363 walks drawn by the Jayhawks are third most nationally and the 100 home runs are tied for 11th in the country. The honor for Fitzgerald marked the first Big 12 Coach of the Year in program history.&nbsp;Fitzgerald, in only his third season at Kansas, directed the program to its greatest regular season in school history. After inheriting a program that finished in last place in the Big 12, Fitzgerald and his staff have brought Kansas into the national spotlight.&nbsp;Fitzgerald is only the second Kansas coach ever to win a coach of the year award, with Dave Bingham winning Big Eight and ABCA District Coach of the Year in 1993. Bingham led the Jayhawks to the College World Series that season.&nbsp; ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM&nbsp; Kansas first baseman&nbsp;Brady Ballinger&nbsp;was selected to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team. KU Baseball set to take on the Fayetteville Regional

Scott Fritchen KStateSports.com It's been more than three months since Kansas State went on its early-season tear with three consecutive wins against No. 5 Arkansas, Michigan and No. 22 TCU in Arlington, Texas, and it's almost one year to the day that the magical Wildcats beat the Razorbacks en route to capturing the 2024 Fayetteville Regional, but no matter the month or year there's something about big games against non-conference foes that gets this team going.

K-State will get its chance to shine again on Friday at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+. That's when the No. 3-seed Wildcats, 31-24, meet No. 2 seed UTSA, 44-13, to open their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. "In order to be ready for games like this, you have to play great Omaha-caliber teams," senior first baseman&nbsp;David Bishop&nbsp;said. "To play against those big teams early and have success shows that we have the confidence to go into this regional and walk out with a win. "Last year's team, we didn't have much experience, and those guys handled adversity great. At Arkansas, they weren't nervous with the environment. This team will do even better."&nbsp;&nbsp; This team will also feature almost an entirely different starting lineup than a year ago, which makes the coaching job by&nbsp;Pete Hughes&nbsp;and his staff even more remarkable. It also makes this one of the most unique, if not perhaps unlikely, success stories in K-State lore. "This is especially rewarding," Hughes said. "We really had to revamp our entire lineup. We lost two major components in our starting rotation, arguably the best closer in the country, a first-round short stop, a center fielder, a catcher, and our second baseman was a high draft choice. That's a lot to rebuild. "To have sustained success is the mark of a national program. When you don't rebuild but reload, that was the significance of this year and being rewarded to go play in the postseason. "While K-State might fondly remember last year's regional and its early-season flurry against stout competition, the Wildcats will hope to shut out recent shortcomings. K-State has lost four of its last six, including a 9-2 defeat to Houston that knocked the Wildcats out of the first round of the Big 12 Championships. K-State lefty&nbsp;Jacob Frost&nbsp;(1-4, 5.75 ERA) will go against UTSA right-hander Zach Royse (8-4, 5.38 ERA).UTSA captured the American Athletic Conference regular season title with a 23-4 record and earned its first regional appearance since 2013. UTSA is slashing .318/.429/.487 with six starters hitting .320 or better. Mason Lytle has a team-high .372 average and Drew Detlefsen has a team-high 13 home runs. The UTSA pitching staff has held opponents to a .257 average with a 2.65 strikeout-to-walk ratio. That includes 90 strikeouts from weekend starter Braylon Owens. "They're super offensive," Hughes said. "They get on base and they're creative getting on base with a lot of hit-by-pitch and walks —&nbsp;free passes that creates a lot of offense. We've taken a hard look to see what matchups are in our favor with the skillset we have. You have to look at everybody. "It's not that arduous of a task being a baseball coach, watching film, and game planning for an opponent, but it's one we gladly like to do at this time of year. Coach&nbsp;Rudy Darrow&nbsp;is looking at all the hitters and offenses that we may matchup against. Coach&nbsp;Austin Wates&nbsp;is looking at the pitchers and&nbsp;Thomas Hughes&nbsp;is setting up the defenses. Our think tank is breaking it all down. We have all the information we need. They'll be put into the best position to have success. They just have to make plays and have fun doing it."&nbsp;&nbsp; This K-State team is used to making plays. K-State has a slash line of .280/.383/.496 with 115 doubles, four triples and a school-record 92 homers.&nbsp;Maximus Martin&nbsp;has a team-high .332 average followed by&nbsp;Seth Dardar&nbsp;(.326),&nbsp;Keegan O'Connor&nbsp;(.323) and&nbsp;AJ Evasco&nbsp;(.306). O'Connor has a team-high 16 homers to tie the school's single-season record while Martin, Dardar and&nbsp;Dee Kennedy&nbsp;have each posted at least 10 homers as well. "It's been pretty awesome, man," Martin said. "This is going to be my first regional. The past two years of college, I was never on a team above .400. This year, we're definitely over that. K-State is one of the best decisions of my life. We're competing really well. Everybody is just excited to keep it going. I'm super amped up. To do it with this team is special. "A K-State win on Friday pits the Wildcats against the winner between No. 2 national seed Texas, 42-12, and No. 4 seed Houston Christian, 32-23.That game would be played Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Texas, which posted its best regular season in 15 years, became the first team to win the SEC in its first season since the league's inaugural year in 1933. Jim Schlossnagle was named SEC Coach of the Year, Dylan Volantis was named SEC Freshman of the Year, and five players earned All-SEC honors. Texas hosts a regional for a 38th&nbsp;time and is 155-59-1 in its 64 postseason appearances. Texas is 53-25-1 all-time against K-State, including a 36-12-1 record at home. "Anytime you go into someone's home field, I'm sure people view Tointon Family Stadium —&nbsp;it's a difficult place to play," Hughes said. "The other team is certainly comfortable with the surroundings and have a large sample size of success for the entire year in that park, so that goes a long way. "We went into one of the biggest hornet's nests in college baseball last year. For our guys, it's not going to be daunting. It's a program and a stadium with so much tradition, but we're going there with one thing in mind and that's to try and win a regional. And that starts against a really, really good UTSA team. "Pitcher&nbsp;JJ Slack&nbsp;undaunted put the finishing touches on victory last year in Fayetteville and performed a backflip as he left the mound. Slack remembers the past. He has felt that K-State postseason magic. Perhaps it might return this weekend. "Last year's regional we seized the moment and the opportunity," he said. "We went in there with a chip on our shoulder. We were the underdog in game one last year and came out first pitch and set the tone with what we were going to do the rest of the tournament. That's what we're bringing to the tournament this year. "We're going to keep the chip on our shoulder, put our heads down, and go to work."&nbsp;&nbsp;

Scott Fritchen KStateSports.com It's been more than three months since Kansas State went on its early-season tear with three consecutive wins against No. 5 Arkansas, Michigan and No. 22 TCU in Arlington, Texas, and it's almost one year to the day that the magical Wildcats beat the Razorbacks en route to capturing the 2024 Fayetteville Regional, but no matter the month or year there's something about big games against non-conference foes that gets this team going. K-State will get its chance to shine again on Friday at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+. That's when the No. 3-seed Wildcats, 31-24, meet No. 2 seed UTSA, 44-13, to open their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. "In order to be ready for games like this, you have to play great Omaha-caliber teams," senior first baseman&nbsp;David Bishop&nbsp;said. "To play against those big teams early and have success shows that we have the confidence to go into this regional and walk out with a win. "Last year's team, we didn't have much experience, and those guys handled adversity great. At Arkansas, they weren't nervous with the environment. This team will do even better."&nbsp;&nbsp; This team will also feature almost an entirely different starting lineup than a year ago, which makes the coaching job by&nbsp;Pete Hughes&nbsp;and his staff even more remarkable. It also makes this one of the most unique, if not perhaps unlikely, success stories in K-State lore. "This is especially rewarding," Hughes said. "We really had to revamp our entire lineup. We lost two major components in our starting rotation, arguably the best closer in the country, a first-round short stop, a center fielder, a catcher, and our second baseman was a high draft choice. That's a lot to rebuild. "To have sustained success is the mark of a national program. When you don't rebuild but reload, that was the significance of this year and being rewarded to go play in the postseason. "While K-State might fondly remember last year's regional and its early-season flurry against stout competition, the Wildcats will hope to shut out recent shortcomings. K-State has lost four of its last six, including a 9-2 defeat to Houston that knocked the Wildcats out of the first round of the Big 12 Championships. K-State lefty&nbsp;Jacob Frost&nbsp;(1-4, 5.75 ERA) will go against UTSA right-hander Zach Royse (8-4, 5.38 ERA).UTSA captured the American Athletic Conference regular season title with a 23-4 record and earned its first regional appearance since 2013. UTSA is slashing .318/.429/.487 with six starters hitting .320 or better. Mason Lytle has a team-high .372 average and Drew Detlefsen has a team-high 13 home runs. The UTSA pitching staff has held opponents to a .257 average with a 2.65 strikeout-to-walk ratio. That includes 90 strikeouts from weekend starter Braylon Owens. "They're super offensive," Hughes said. "They get on base and they're creative getting on base with a lot of hit-by-pitch and walks —&nbsp;free passes that creates a lot of offense. We've taken a hard look to see what matchups are in our favor with the skillset we have. You have to look at everybody. "It's not that arduous of a task being a baseball coach, watching film, and game planning for an opponent, but it's one we gladly like to do at this time of year. Coach&nbsp;Rudy Darrow&nbsp;is looking at all the hitters and offenses that we may matchup against. Coach&nbsp;Austin Wates&nbsp;is looking at the pitchers and&nbsp;Thomas Hughes&nbsp;is setting up the defenses. Our think tank is breaking it all down. We have all the information we need. They'll be put into the best position to have success. They just have to make plays and have fun doing it."&nbsp;&nbsp; This K-State team is used to making plays. K-State has a slash line of .280/.383/.496 with 115 doubles, four triples and a school-record 92 homers.&nbsp;Maximus Martin&nbsp;has a team-high .332 average followed by&nbsp;Seth Dardar&nbsp;(.326),&nbsp;Keegan O'Connor&nbsp;(.323) and&nbsp;AJ Evasco&nbsp;(.306). O'Connor has a team-high 16 homers to tie the school's single-season record while Martin, Dardar and&nbsp;Dee Kennedy&nbsp;have each posted at least 10 homers as well. "It's been pretty awesome, man," Martin said. "This is going to be my first regional. The past two years of college, I was never on a team above .400. This year, we're definitely over that. K-State is one of the best decisions of my life. We're competing really well. Everybody is just excited to keep it going. I'm super amped up. To do it with this team is special. "A K-State win on Friday pits the Wildcats against the winner between No. 2 national seed Texas, 42-12, and No. 4 seed Houston Christian, 32-23.That game would be played Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Texas, which posted its best regular season in 15 years, became the first team to win the SEC in its first season since the league's inaugural year in 1933. Jim Schlossnagle was named SEC Coach of the Year, Dylan Volantis was named SEC Freshman of the Year, and five players earned All-SEC honors. Texas hosts a regional for a 38th&nbsp;time and is 155-59-1 in its 64 postseason appearances. Texas is 53-25-1 all-time against K-State, including a 36-12-1 record at home. "Anytime you go into someone's home field, I'm sure people view Tointon Family Stadium —&nbsp;it's a difficult place to play," Hughes said. "The other team is certainly comfortable with the surroundings and have a large sample size of success for the entire year in that park, so that goes a long way. "We went into one of the biggest hornet's nests in college baseball last year. For our guys, it's not going to be daunting. It's a program and a stadium with so much tradition, but we're going there with one thing in mind and that's to try and win a regional. And that starts against a really, really good UTSA team. "Pitcher&nbsp;JJ Slack&nbsp;undaunted put the finishing touches on victory last year in Fayetteville and performed a backflip as he left the mound. Slack remembers the past. He has felt that K-State postseason magic. Perhaps it might return this weekend. "Last year's regional we seized the moment and the opportunity," he said. "We went in there with a chip on our shoulder. We were the underdog in game one last year and came out first pitch and set the tone with what we were going to do the rest of the tournament. That's what we're bringing to the tournament this year. "We're going to keep the chip on our shoulder, put our heads down, and go to work."&nbsp;&nbsp;

The two other Grand Slam tennis tournaments that sell separate tickets for night sessions tend to feature two singles matches for that part of the daily schedule — one involving women and one involving men. Edmonton scored on its first two shots, and jumped ahead 3-0 in the first 8:07 on way to eliminating the Stars in the West final for the second year in a row. MONTMELO, Spain (AP) — Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have just three points between them at the top of the F1 standings as the McLaren pair aim to break Max Verstappen’s hold on the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend. Verstappen has driven his Red Bull to victory at the race held north of Barcelona for the last three seasons, using the high-speed track as a stepping stone toward his haul of four straight world championships so far. McDavid says he didn't touch the West trophy last year, and Edmonton didn't win the Stanley Cup. Florida didn’t touch the Prince of Wales Trophy after wrapping up the East final this week. The Panthers also didn't touch the East trophy last year and won the Cup. But in 2023, they lost in the Stanley Cup final after celebrating the East touching that trophy.&nbsp;

PARIS (AP) — Carlos Alcaraz has been wearing nasal strips in some matches since last season. That's sparked an interest in the better-breathing adhesives among other tennis players — even if the four-time Grand Slam champion has skipped using them so far at the French Open heading into his third-round match on Friday night. The bandages open the nostrils to ease nasal breathing. Nicolás Jarry wears them daily both for practice and competition. Mirra Andreeva and Jessica Pegula are among the players who have noticed Alcaraz using them and are curious whether the strips could help. Science isn't so sure of the benefits.&nbsp;

The move worked well in the first round at Erin Hills. Yin made a 13 1/2-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th for a 4-under 68 and a share of the U.S. Women’s Open lead with 2020 champion A Lim Kim, Jinhee Im, Yealimi Noh, Rio Takeda and Julia Lopez Ramirez. Lopez Ramirez won consecutive Southeastern Conference titles at Mississippi State in 2023 and 2024, but she suffered a major setback earlier this year when what she initially believed was a bout of food poisoning actually was a case of appendicitis.&nbsp;

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — Ben Griffin picked up his first individual PGA Tour title at Colonial last week and he's still rolling. Griffin opened with a 65 at tough Muirfield Village despite two shots in the water. That gives him a two-shot lead over Collin Morikawa at the Memorial. Only six players broke 70 and 13 players were under par. The rough was so thick that missing a fairway made it hard work. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler wasn't in the short grass enough for his liking. He still managed a 70 for his 19th consecutive tournament with a first round under par.&nbsp;

CLEVELAND (AP) — Mike Trout is expected to be activated off the injured list on Friday before the Los Angeles Angels face the Cleveland Guardians, a person with knowledge of the move told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on Thursday on condition of anonymity because the move has not been announced. The Angels have an open roster spot after Matthew Lugo was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday. Trout hasn’t played since April 30, when he left the game against the Seattle Mariners during the fourth inning with soreness in his left knee eventually diagnosed as a bone bruise. As&nbsp;announced two weeks ago, the Wildcats will kick off the 2025 college football season in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic as they face Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday, August 23, in an 11 a.m. (CT) game on ESPN.K-State returns to Manhattan for its first non-conference game and home opener on Saturday, August 30, against North Dakota in a 6 p.m., contest that will be shown on ESPN+. It is the first all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Fighting Hawks as the two teams were scheduled to play in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic altered the schedule. 

Another 6 p.m., contest – this time on ESPN – is slated for Saturday, September 6, when the Wildcats welcome Army to Bill Snyder Family Stadium for the second time ever and first since 1987.The Wildcats close out the non-conference portion of their schedule by traveling to face Arizona on Friday, September 12, in an 8 p.m. (CT) game that will be shown on FOX. Trousdale is an unincorporated community in Lincoln Township, Edwards County, Kansas, United States. It is located along 270th Ave between S Rd and T Rd, approximately nine miles south of Belpre, or 13 miles north of Haviland.

Bruce DeHaven, special teams coach of the Buffalo Bills, a Trousdale High School graduate.

The community began when a railroad junction was constructed in 1915. It is named for a Newton, Kansas resident who owned land in the vicinity. At its peak it boasted a bank (which closed during the Depression), Trousdale Grade School and High School, several retail establishments, and two grain elevators. A high line was built to the community in 1927 to provide electrical service.[citation needed]

A post office was opened in Trousdale in 1916, and remained in operation until it was discontinued and closed in 1967.

In 2006, the Trousdale Methodist Church, a repair shop/parts store, a grain storage facility, and an unnamed fuel retail outlet were the only businesses in addition to family farming operations that were in Trousdale, along with some remaining houses. As of 2023, there were about eight homes in Trousdale, while the gas station is closed, but it is unclear whether this closing was temporary or permanent.

On May 4, 2007, a 2.2 mile wide tornado hit Trousdale, soon after an EF5 tornado destroyed Greensburg to the south. Much of Trousdale was badly damaged, including the nearby church, which would later be rebuilt. The tornado that hit the town would later be rated EF3, though there is speculation that the Trousdale tornado may have been an EF5.

Anne Rogers MLB.com KANSAS CITY -- As if this wasn’t already a storybook start to&nbsp;Noah Cameron’s big league career – pitching for his childhood team just an hour south of where he grew up – his performance for the Royals so far has elevated it even more so.

Cameron -- the 25-year-old lefty from St. Joseph, Mo., and the Royals’&nbsp;No. 5 prospect&nbsp;per MLB Pipeline -- spun another 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball on Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium, leading the Royals to a&nbsp;3-2 win&nbsp;over the Reds and salvaging a disappointing series loss by avoiding the sweep.

In four starts, Cameron has posted a 1.05 ERA. He hasn’t allowed more than one run in any of his four starts. He has gone at least 6 1/3 innings in each of them, too.

That makes Cameron just the second pitcher since 1893 with 6 1/3-plus innings and one run or less in his first four MLB appearances, all starts, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The first was Cody Anderson for Cleveland in 2015.

And Cameron is the second in Royals history to begin his career with at least four straight quality starts, joining Steve Busby, who began his career with five.

“Can’t make it up,” Cameron said, a grin splashed on his face. “It’s obviously been fun getting wins and putting the team in a good spot and being able to save the bullpen. The vibes up here are obviously amazing. Just happy to be here.”

And the Royals are happy to have him. He has done wonders for a rotation that still ranks&nbsp;third in MLB&nbsp;with a 3.02 ERA despite having&nbsp;two of its best starters on the injured list&nbsp;the past two weeks in Seth Lugo (third right finger sprain) and Cole Ragans (left groin strain).

Lugo is set to return Friday against the Tigers, but Cameron should get at least one more start early next week against the Cardinals with Ragans still on the IL and likely making one rehab start this weekend.

After that, the Royals have a decision to make. Cameron isn’t making it easy, pitching the way he has -- no doubt a good problem for the team to have.

“He’s using all his pitches, he’s pitching in and out, changing speeds, confidently throwing strikes,” manager Matt Quatraro said. “A lot of soft contact. It’s a tremendous run. When he goes out there, it feels like he’s in command of what he’s doing.”

On Wednesday, Cameron worked around six hits and two walks, and he struck out only two batters with just eight whiffs on 44 swings (18%). He was relying heavily on weak contact and his defense behind him; the Reds averaged an 87.1 mph&nbsp;exit velocity.

“I think they were maybe a little bit more patient and sitting on offspeed stuff,” Cameron said. “But that turned into weak contact. So I’m all right with it. As long as I keep putting up zeros.”

The only run Cameron allowed came in the sixth inning, when a two-out walk came around to score on Spencer Steer’s single. With a beat-up bullpen after Tuesday’s&nbsp;7-2 loss, Quatraro sent Cameron back out for the seventh inning, and he recorded one out before walking Garrett Hampson.

Angel Zerpa allowed one single but got out of the jam with a double play, keeping the Royals’ slim lead intact.

“Trusted my runner with him all day,” Cameron said.

The Royals’ offense gave Cameron just enough run support for his first win at The K. Maikel Garcia scored from first on Drew Waters’ single to left field in the fourth – an aggressive baserunning play, but one Kansas City “needed,” Garcia said, with the offense scuffling.

John Rave knocked his first big league hit with a hustle double in the fifth, setting up Bobby Witt Jr.’s RBI double, and Witt came through again in the seventh with a sacrifice fly.

The Royals’ hitters are just as in awe of Cameron as anyone else – and probably just as thankful.

“He does a lot of that,” said Rave, who played with Cameron at Triple-A Omaha. “Nothing new to me. He’s going to be a stud.”

After the game, with the Royals celebrating a much-needed win, Cameron took photos with his family on the field before speaking with reporters. There is no shortage of family and friends in the stands when Cameron pitches, especially in Kansas City.

“I told the security guards that this is probably how it’s going to be every time I pitch here,” Cameron said, laughing.

The Royals will be happy to see those results every time, too.

Noah Cameron accomplishes something seen once since 1893

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Noah Cameron pitched into the seventh, scattering six singles as the Kansas City Royals beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 to salvage the final game of the series on Wednesday night.

Cameron (2-1) allowed a run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Maikel Garcia singled with one out in the fourth, extending his hitting streak to 13 games, then scored from first on Drew Waters’ deflected single.

In the fifth, John Rave doubled to right, collecting his first major league hit, and scored when Bobby Witt Jr. bounced a two-out double inside the first base bag for a 2-0 lead.

Witt added an insurance run with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly.

Carlos Estévez struck out two for a four-out save, his 15th.

Among his three singles, Spencer Steer delivered two-out RBI hits in the sixth and eighth.

Tyler Stephenson hit three singles while TJ Friedl hit two singles and has multiple hits in six straight games.

Hunter Greene (4-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five innings.

Austin Hays exited the game in the eighth with a left foot contusion. He was hobbled after fouling a pitch off his foot in a sixth-inning at-bat.

Running on a 2-2 pitch, Garcia scored from first when second baseman Matt McLain deflected Waters’ hit into shallow right field, snapping a scoreless tie.

Cameron delivers another solid outing as Royals top Reds, 3-2, salvaging final game of series

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points, and the Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-94 to win the Western Conference finals series 4-1 and advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012. Chet Holmgren had 22 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and Jalen Williams added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Thunder. Oklahoma City will play the Indiana Pacers or New York Knicks in the finals. Indiana leads the Eastern Conference finals series 3-1 with Game 5 to be played in New York City on Thursday.&nbsp;

The Panthers beat the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference final for the second time in three seasons. The Big 12 tied the Conference’s record with eight league baseball
programs selected to the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.
The 2009 season is the only other season in which the Conference
received eight bids to the national tournament. NCAA Regionals play
begins on Friday, May 30 in a double-elimination format.


It is the fourth consecutive season and the 22nd time in 28 seasons
that the league earned five or more bids.


Arizona (39-18) secured the Big 12’s automatic bid to the field
after winning the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship. The
Wildcats will take on Cal Poly (41-17) at 3 p.m. CT/1 p.m. MST on
ESPN+ Friday in the opening game of the Eugene Regional. No. 12
national seed Oregon (42-14) and Utah Valley (32-27) complete the
field.


Arizona State (35-22) will travel to the Los Angeles Regional and
play UC Irvine (41-15) at 8 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MST on ESPNU on Friday
night. No. 12 national seed UCLA (42-16) and Fresno State (31-27)
await the teams in the second game of the regional.  



Cincinnati (32-24) makes its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament
since 2019 and its first at-large berth since the 1974 season. The
Bearcats will open the Knoxville Regional on Friday at 1 p.m. ET/Noon
CT on ESPN+ against Wake Forest (36-20). The regional is rounded out
with the No. 14 national seed Tennessee (43-16) and Miami (Ohio)
(35-21).

Kansas (43-15)
makes its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014 and will face
Creighton (41-14) at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+ Friday. The Jayhawks face No.
3 national seed Arkansas (43-13) or North Dakota State (20-32) in the
second game of the Fayetteville Regional.

Kansas State
(31-24) earned its sixth NCAA Tournament selection in program
history, marking its first time earning back-to-back selections since
2010-11. The Wildcats will conclude the first day of the Austin
Regional with a game against UTSA (44-13) at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+. No.
2 national seed Texas (42-14) and Houston Christian (32-23) complete
the four-team field.


Oklahoma State (28-23) extended its NCAA Regional streak with its
12th consecutive selection. The Cowboys will play Duke (37-19) on
Friday at 5 p.m. CT on ESPNU. The Athens Regional will also consist
of No. 7 national seed Georgia (42-15) and Binghamton (29-24).


TCU (39-18) is back in the NCAA Tournament for the 18th time in the
last 21 seasons. The Horned Frogs will start their postseason with a
matchup against Southern California (35-21) at 2 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
The host and No. 8 national seed, Oregon State (41-12-1), along with
Saint Mary’s (CA) (35-24) complete the regional.


After clinching its first outright Big 12 regular season title in
program history, West Virginia (41-14) secured its third consecutive
NCAA Regional selection. The Mountaineers will take the field against
Kentucky (29-24) at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT on Friday (ESPNU). No. 11
national seed Clemson (44-16) and USC Upstate (36-23) await the teams
in the Clemson Regional.


The Big 12 has sent at least one team to eight of the last nine Men’s

Big 12 Record Eight Teams Selected to 2025 NCAA Baseball Championship

Matt McMullen Senior team reporter, Kansas City Chiefs The 2025 season is just a few months away, and in&nbsp;Pro Football Focus’ recent rankings&nbsp;of the top quarterbacks in the league entering the campaign, Patrick Mahomes checked in at No. 1.

It was familiar territory for Mahomes, who has landed in the top spot in at least five of the last six years. The folks at PFF either didn't complete or removed their quarterback rankings ahead of the 2022 season, but other than that, Mahomes claimed the No.1 spot in&nbsp;2020,&nbsp;2021,&nbsp;2023&nbsp;and&nbsp;2024.

Now entering his ninth year in the NFL (and his eighth year as the Chiefs' starter), Mahomes is coming off a season in which he threw for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns. He led Kansas City to victory in 17 of his 19 starts, guiding the Chiefs to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in his career. In fact, through seven seasons, Mahomes – remarkably – has never finished shy of the AFC Championship Game.

The folks at PFF either didn't complete or removed their quarterback rankings ahead of the 2022 season, but other than that, Mahomes claimed the No.1 spot in&nbsp;2020,&nbsp;2021,&nbsp;2023&nbsp;and&nbsp;2024.Now entering his ninth year in the NFL (and his eighth year as the Chiefs' starter), Mahomes is coming off a season in which he threw for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns. He led Kansas City to victory in 17 of his 19 starts, guiding the Chiefs to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in his career.
