As already mentioned, the City of Great Bend is offering a $250 prize to
the winner of the Anything That Floats Race at this year’s Party in the Park on
Saturday, Aug. 10. Another new addition to this year’s outdoor festival at Veterans
Memorial Park is Midwest Elite Wrestling Exhibition.
Great Bend Community
Coordinator Christina Hayes said the wrestling entertainment will take place on
the north side of the lake from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
"There is an amateur group that wrestles, most have been done in Larned," said Hayes. "They've done a few in Great Bend. They asked if there was any way to make this work. I said sure. They're putting up a ring. It's something different."
Gates open for the concerts at 6 p.m. at Al Burns Field. Tickets are $5 at City
Hall prior to Saturday and will cost $10 at the gate.
"Another fun piece of the concert, once you're in there, if you take a picture in our public photo booth you'll get a free 'I love Great Bend' koozie," said Hayes. "Make sure you take your picture in the photo booth to get your koozie."
