Anyone is welcome to sign up for this year’s Anything That Floats Race at Great Bend’s Party in the Park. New this year, the City of Great Bend will award the winning entry a $250 prize.

With games, activities and entertainment lined up all day at Party in the Park on Aug. 10, the Anything That Floats Race will take place at 11:15 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.

Great Bend Community Coordinator Christina Hayes said entries cannot include a boat hull or motor.

"You can easily put something together," said Hayes. "It does have to be a little more jumbled, meaning it can't just be an inflatable mattress or float you go out on. You have to mesh it together in some manner."

Staff from the Great Bend Police Department won the race last year, but Hayes said the competition is open for any citizens to enter.
