Such items will be referred to the appropriate administrator(s) for future information and researched and reported back to the Board at a later meeting. Personalities and behavior of employees are not to be presented during this period but are to be reported to the employee’s immediate supervisor. The president shall determine the amount of time to be spent for citizen participation.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Approval of Computer Purchase
The district has a rotation cycle for electronic purchases to maintain up-to-date technology. Chromebooks are on a three-year rotation, and computers are on a five-year rotation. At this time, the administration requests BOE approval for the following purchases.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. First Reading of GBHS Program of Studies
The High School Program of Studies book describes all the courses available to Great Bend High School students. GBHS Principal Mr. Tim Friess will discuss several course description updates and wording changes and present Curriculum Steering Committee recommendations for the 2024-2025 Program of Studies. The administration will request board approval at the next meeting.
B. First Reading of BOE Policy
BOE members review the following policy revisions, which are being presented as first readings. The policy revisions will be returned to the BOE for action at a subsequent meeting.

C. Approval of Safety Equipment
The USD 428 Safety Committee has recommendations regarding school safety features, including AED signage and Bleed Kits. The administration will recommend approval of a quote for $2126 to purchase AED signage and Bleed Kits for the schools.
6. CURRICULUM REPORT
A. Adoption Updates
Mrs. Blevins will provide an update regarding K-6 ELA and K-12 Science adoptions planned for the upcoming year.
B. Little Panthers Preschool Update
Mrs. Blevins will update the board on the preschool curriculum, classroom organization and arrangement, and other information regarding Little Panthers Preschool at the new facility.

7. BUSINESS AND OPERATIONS REPORT
A. District Cabling Update
A Great Bend Tribune ad was placed requesting vendor quotes for camera network wiring and installation throughout GBHS and GBMS. Mr. Popp will discuss the RFQ’s received.
B. Personnel Report
The district is attending several in-person or virtual Recruiting Fairs to hire quality teachers for the 2024-25 school year. December education graduates will be considered for employment now for positions currently filled by long-term substitute teachers until a permanent job is available.
C. Project Updates
Mr. Popp will provide an update on district projects currently underway.

Mark Tallman will visit USD 428 and meet with the district administration to discuss USD 428's education accreditation and success.

KSDE Director Dr. Jay Scott and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ben Proctor will visit GBHS to discuss education topics with students.

KASB’s annual Advocacy In Action Conference will kick off the 2024 Kansas legislative session, as education advocates from across the state will spend two days discussing issues affecting public schools during these unprecedented times and meeting with key policymakers.

● BOE Luncheon Meeting: There is no luncheon meeting scheduled in December. The next BOE meeting is on January 8, 2024.
