Barton County officials sent out a warning Thursday about how the Treasurer’s Office gets busy toward the end of the month, especially on the last day of the quarter. Barton County provided advice for those navigating the vehicle renewal or registration process.

• Renewals can be processed online at www.ikan.ks.gov. Please have your renewal on hand as you will need your license plate or PIN number. Save your receipt when you renew online. The State of Kansas gives you a 10-day grace period while you await your registration sticker’s arrival.

• You may mail in your renewal. Please mail renewals early in the month to allow time for processing as well as return mail. There is no grace period for mailed-in renewals.

• Current month renewals are given priority.

• Title work will require a visit to the Treasurer’s Office in person. You may fill out a vehicle power of attorney authorizing someone else to handle the transaction on your behalf. That form can be found at www.ksrevenue.gov.

• The Treasurer’s Office is open from 7:30 am – 4:40 pm, Monday – Friday, unless otherwise announced. Title work is completed between 7:30 am and 3:45 pm. Commercial work is completed between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm.

• Remember, the Treasurer’s Office is now located in Suite 107, on the first floor, of the Courthouse. We appreciate your patience.
