Drug charges follow after traffic stop in Great Bend

On Friday, May 30 at 10:14 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a white 2015 Ford F-150 in the 3400 block of 10th Street. During the traffic stop, the Department's K9 Neo was used for a free air sniff, which indicated to an odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched, and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found inside.

Michael Casares, age 39, was arrested for distribution of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of drugs, child endangerment and traffic charges. Casares was transported to the Barton County Jail, where he was booked in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
