Ethan Travis “E.T.” Mai, 56, Hays, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at his home.
He was born September 29, 1964, in Pensacola, Florida, the son of Jan Lawler and Elwood Mai. He was a 1982 graduate of Russell High School. On August 31, 1999, he was united in marriage to Tracy Lynn Dinges in Estes Park, Colorado, and they celebrated 21 years of marriage. His family meant everything to him. He loved his wife dearly and was a very strong believer in God and the Bible. Ethan loved drawing, fixing up the house, working with cattle, horseback riding, and being very involved with all the things Peyton and Colton had going on.
Survivors include his wife Tracy of Hays, three sons: Colton Mai of Hays, Trenton Mai of Schoenchen, and Brandon Mai of Concordia, a daughter: Peyton Mai of Hays, his mother: Jan Lawler of Russell, his mother-in-law: Marlene Sloan and husband Howard of Hays, his father-in-law: Thomas Dinges and wife Susan of Schoenchen, a sister: Jana Mai of Urbandale, IA and her children: Calvin, Olivia, and Chase, a brother-in-law: Cole Dinges and wife Stephanie of Schoenchen, three sisters-in-law: Tashia Becker and husband Robert of Hays and their children: Tressa, Omar, and Lane, Alissa Hammerschmidt (Dinges) and husband Travis of Gorham, and Amanda Brown and husband Chad of Hays.
He was preceded in death by his father Elwood Mai and a daughter Morgan Mai.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Allen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Wednesday at the church. A vigil service will be at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
