At 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Great Bend Fire and EMS crews were dispatched to US 56 Highway and SW 30 Avenue for the report of a head on accident involving a pickup and a semi-truck. Crews found a semi-truck and a pickup in the middle of the highway that struck head on. The vehicles sustained substantial damage.
All drivers and passengers were out of the vehicles upon arrival. One patient was transported to The University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus for further treatment.
GBFD was assisted at the accident scene by the Barton County Sheriff's Office and Kansas Highway Patrol.
