Central Kansas has seen some cold temperatures already, but as we officially enter the start of winter, the true blustery weather is arriving. Starting Thursday, there will be three straight days with highs set below freezing, including Thursday’s high of negative two.

Great Bend City Administrator Kendal Francis reminded citizens to be on the lookout for frozen water meters. If you think your water meter froze, give the city a call.

"We're trying to dissuade citizens from messing with their meters," said Francis. "We're trying to prevent broken meters. They can call into the utilities office during work hours or after hours. If it's after hours, you'll leave your name and phone number, and they will return a call to you."

Citizens can call the city office at 620-793-4111 or the Water Division at 620-793-4170.
