Leaving with Oklahoma for the Southeastern Conference after this season, Texas (11-1, 8-1), has won six straight since a loss to Oklahoma. The Longhorns will face an opponent to be determined Saturday in the championship game Dec. 2 in Arlington. Texas Tech (6-6, 5-4) was outgained 528 yards to 198. Texas' Quinn Ewers threw for 196 yards and a touchdown against one interception. He was 17 of 26.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Dillon Gabriel passed for 400 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 13 Oklahoma defeat TCU 69-45 and improve its chances of reaching the Big 12 championship game. Drake Stoops caught a career-high 12 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Gavin Sawchuk ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns for the Sooners, who won their final regular-season Big 12 game. They will join the Southeastern Conference next season. Josh Hoover passed for 344 yards and four touchdowns for TCU. The Horned Frogs failed to become bowl eligible a year after playing for the national championship.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Bo Nix threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, securing No. 6 Oregon a spot in the Pac-12 championship game with a 31-7 victory over No. 15 Oregon State in the final scheduled matchup between the in-state rivals. The Ducks will face No. 4 Washington next Friday in Las Vegas, the final conference championship before 10 of the league’s teams bolt next season. The winner has a chance at learning a spot in the four-team College Football Playoff. Oregon has won six straight since losing at Washington. Nix threw for 367 yards. LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Backup kicker Marshall Meeder barely cleared the crossbar with a 38-yard field goal as time ran out after Ethan Hurkett’s interception gave No. 20 Iowa a final possession with 15 seconds left and the Hawkeyes beat Nebraska 13-10. Meeder is a senior transfer from Central Michigan. He was given his first opportunity to kick for Iowa at the most pressure-packed moment after Drew Stevens had two field-goal tries blocked in the first half. Teammates hoisted Meeder on their shoulders, and he held the Heroes Trophy that goes to the winner of the rivalry game as the Hawkeyes celebrated at midfield.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Tyreek Hill celebrated a touchdown catch by giving the ball to his new wife in the stands, Jevon Holland returned an intercepted first-half Hail Mary attempt 99 yards for a score, and the Miami Dolphins cruised past the New York Jets 34-13. Raheem Mostert also ran for two touchdowns in the NFL's first game played on Black Friday. The Dolphins sent the Jets to their fourth straight loss. Tua Tagovailoa was intercepted twice, including one returned for a score by Brandin Echols. Tim Boyle started at quarterback for the Jets, but New York's offense continued to struggle.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jaxson Robinson scored 23 points off the bench, BYU scored 57 points in a blistering second half, and the Cougars defeated North Carolina State 95-86 in the championship game of the Vegas Showdown. BYU played without Atiki Ally Atiki, who was suspended for throwing a punch at an Arizona State player late in Thursday’s game. The Cougars shot 70% in the second half, including 9 of 15 3-pointers, and made all six of their free throws. After trailing for nearly 28 minutes, BYU took a 66-64 lead when Spencer Johnson and Trey Stewart hit back-to-back 3s midway through the second half. An 11-0 BYU run made it 85-72 with 2:40 left.
GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) — Elizabeth Kitley had 31 points and 18 rebounds to help ninth-ranked Virginia Tech edge Kansas 59-58 on Friday in the Cayman Islands Classic. Georgia Amoore hit a 3-pointer with 2:57 left to give the Hokies (4-1) a 59-58 advantage in a game that featured 17 lead changes and seven ties. Kansas (2-2) had a few chances to take the lead after that, but Taiyanna Jackson missed two free throws with 1:46 left. The Jayhawks then turned it over on their next possession. Amoore missed a jumper with under 30 seconds left and then the Hokies had a shot clock violation that gave Kansas one final chance. Ryan Dobbins attempt with a second left fell short.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Otega Oweh tipped in Javian McCollum’s missed jumper with 1.4 seconds left to give Oklahoma a thrilling 72-70 victory over No. 23 Southern California on Friday in the championship game of the inaugural Rady Children’s Invitational. Oweh’s shot set off a wild celebration as the Sooners surged to 6-0. McCollum scored 18 points and was named tournament MVP. Oweh had 16 points and John Hugley IV added 14. San Diego’s Boogie Ellis and Kobe Johnson scored 16 points apiece for USC (4-2) while Rodman and Collier had 10 apiece.
NEW YORK (AP) — RayJ Dennis had 24 points and eight assists to lead No. 13 Baylor to a 95-91 win over Florida in the championship game of the NIT Season Tip-Off. Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchuoa hit a 3-pointer — his only basket of the game — to snap a tie and put Baylor ahead for good with 9:56 left as the Bears won their seventh regular-season tournament title under coach Scott Drew, including its fifth since 2016. Jalen Bridges scored 23 points while Langston Love had 16 points and Ja’Kobe Walter 11 for the Bears. Riley Kugel had 25 points and nine rebounds for Florida.
