Annually, the City of Great Bend puts on a fireworks show on July 3 for the community. In 2024, the city used Victory Pyro for the show, and administration asked for feedback on what agreement the city wants for this year’s show. A one-year contract with Victory Pyro would cost approximately $15,000 for an 18-minute show.
Speaking with former Community Coordinator Christina Hayes, Great Bend City Council member Jolene Biggs suggested switching vendors this year.
"With Victory, there was discussion from last year that the aerial shoots didn't go as high," said Biggs. "Hayes asked them to hold off two minutes for the music and they did not. Sounded like they were maybe a little difficult to work with. If there was a conversation, and they were agreeable to it, I personally would like to go back to the old one, Wald & Co."
Hayes raised the money for the 2025 show along with securing money for next year’s show.
The council approved the vendor contract with Wald & Co. Inc. and All American Display Fireworks for $15,000. The fireworks display takes place at the Great Bend Expo Complex, west of town.
