Elisabeth Anne (White) Brinlee, McGinley, age 84, passed away January 1st, 2022, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas.

Mother, known to all of us as “Annie” was born August 21, 1937, in Biggleswade, England to her parents Cecil & Sylvia (Thynne) White.

She was the youngest of their four children and enjoyed her childhood growing up at “Elm Cottage” their farm outside of town. Her father had his own tailoring shop in Biggleswade where he made suits for the elite. Mother’s life took a turn of grief when her father died in an accident when she was a young girl.

Anne graduated from High School and soon found a position caring for preschool children. One day, her best friends asked her to go with her on a blind date with a couple of Americans from the local U.S. Air Force base. She went on the date and two years later flew to America to marry Lewis L. Brinlee at the Methodist Church in Florence Colorado on March 29th, 1958.

To this union were born four children, Kristopher Kevin, Keri Mason, Kwin Lewis and Kele Anne Margrett. The family lived in Pueblo, Florence and eventually settled in Denver, Colorado. Lewis injured his back while working as a truck driver, causing him to be permanently disabled. The family then moved to Akron, Colorado to be closer to relatives a few years later.

My mother was a great caregiver. She took good care of her children and her injured husband who passed away after 13 years of disability. Still a young woman she was now a widow, but love returned to her life when she met Michael P. McGinley. They were married in 1979 and the family increased in size with the addition of Mike’s three sons, Michael, Mark, and Jeff McGinley. Mike and mom were happily married for 25 years. Mike passed away in 2005 at the age of 70.

Mother lived in Denver for many more years until she made her move to Hoisington, Kansas to live closer to her adult children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hoisington, attended weekly lady’s bible studies, and was always a great help serving meals for church and funeral dinners. Mother knew no strangers. She loved meeting new people and made many friends in the Hoisington community.

Mom loved to paint. Her favorite pastime was being a paint by number artist. She loved to cook, especially pies. And she diligently cared for her beautiful flowers in the yard.

Mother always wanted to stay busy and generally it was being busy doing something for someone else. She loved on her family and her friends daily. Her affectionate actions expressed her love for us all. She loved beyond what words could say.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Derek and wife Kath, her sister Vivian and husband Bob Gale, and brother-in-law John Holley, son, Kwin Lewis Brinlee, daughter-in-law Peggy Brinlee and granddaughter Kirsten Anne Phillips.

She leaves to mourn her passing a sister Peg Holley, her sons, Kris Brinlee (wife Jean), and Keri Brinlee, daughter Kele Anne (Brinlee) Temple, sons Michael McGinley, Mark McGinley, and Jeff McGinley, and Kwin’s wife Randy.

She had numerous nieces and nephews. Ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. And an abundance of good friends.

Mom’s adoring, sacrificial love for us all will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Hoisington, KS. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11:00 am. Pastor Chris Lehew will officiate with Pastor Kris Brinlee.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Anne McGinley Expense Fund or the First United Methodist Church of Hoisington in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, P.O. Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544
