The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place July 23, 2025, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.
There are several projects in District Five that includes Barton and Pawnee Counties. In Barton, crack repairs will take place on 9.1 miles of US-56 Highway from the east city limits of Great Bend to the east city limits of Ellinwood. McPherson's Pavement Pros LLC turned in the winning bid of $134,311.13.
In Pawnee County, crack repairs will take place on 25.3 miles of K-156 Highway from the Hodgeman and Pawnee county line east to the US-183/K-156 junction, and from the US 183/K-156 junction north to the Rush/Pawnee county line. Pavement Pros will also complete work on that project with a cost of $172,020.89.
Work will also be done on 11 miles of K-14 in Rice County from the north city limits of Lyons to the Rice/Ellsworth county line. Pavement Pros will complete the work with a cost of $62,459.07.
