While the City of Great Bend will initiate a city-wide cleanup Sept. 24 - Oct. 2, the City of Hoisington will
continue annual fall cleanup with dates set for Sept. 22 and Sept. 23. 


Hoisington allows residents to set trash or even large items near their curbs
to be picked up. 


Code Enforcement Officer Dolores Kipper said items should appear on the curbs
no earlier than a week before the pickup date.


"I've received phone calls to put stuff out already," said Kipper. "One, it doesn't look good. Secondly, all it takes is a little rain and that mattress or sofa you set out weighs half a ton. It needs to be lifted into the truck. The truck's arm might break and everything comes to a halt."

Stutzman Refuse Disposal will not pick up hazardous waste.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

"We just ask citizens to be considerate and follow the rules of setting stuff out a week prior," said Kipper.
