Posted Jul 09, 2024 11:10 AM
Blakelee Cooper, left, and Jessa Chapman participate in a recent Juvenile Services (JS) Life Skills fishing class at Veterans Lake in Great Bend where they reeled in a catfish. Most Life Skills classes relate to career and home but leisure courses also are offered. Cooper is the community case manager at JS and Chapman is a summer assistant at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP). They joined several JS clients who learned some of the finer points of fishing from Instructor Travis Riley, fisheries biologist for the Ellsworth District of KDWP. JS is recruiting volunteers to lead classes. For more information, contact Jack Bowman, JS program advocate, by calling 620-793-1930.
