On Sept. 2, at about 10:30 p.m., a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office came in contact with Wendell Akins, age 63 of Ellinwood. Akins was stopped at 250 N. Main Street in Hoisington.
Akins had an outstanding felony warrant issued by the Barton County District Court. The warrant was for felony DUI, failing to stop at an injury accident and driving while suspended. During the course of the arrest, the deputy located a bag containing suspected methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia.
Akins was transported to the Barton County jail without incident and booked on the warrant which has a $40,000 bond as well as requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Those charges have a $10,000 bond.
