Dorothy M. Hernandez, 87, died February 28, 2024, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas. She was born August 29, 1936, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Olga H. (Nather) Crotinger.
In 1954 she married Dick Moore to this union five children were born. They later divorced. She later married Martin Hernandez, they were married for 23 years.
Dorothy lived most of her adult life in Hayward, California, moving to Great Bend in 2011. She worked for a short while as a CNA at the hospital, but was primarliy a homemaker. Dorothy loved animals and had some interesting pets growing up and later raised and sold siamese cats and poodle dogs. She was known in her family for her good cooking skills.
She is survived by three children; Stanley Moore, Billy Moore, and Cathy Bell all of California; four grandchildren; eight siblings, Lois Pusateri and husband Joe of Belton, Missouri, Cindy Sohm and husband John of Otis, Florence Holmes and husband Tom of Great Bend, Sue Hollingsworth of Manhattan, Debbie Dalton of Otis, Gene Crotinger of Hinton, Oklahoma, Rosemary Linn and husband Nick of Smith Center, and Michael Crotinger and wife Annalee of Bison; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Donnie Moore and Kenny Moore; two sisters, MaryAnn Crotinger and Carol Willhite; and a brother-in-law, Terry Dalton.
Visitation will be 12 noon to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Rosary will be said prior to Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., all at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, celebrated by Father Warren Stecklein. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Olmitz, Kansas.
