Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, the city of Great Bend experienced a power outage. Not long after the lights went out, area law enforcement was notified of a vehicle on fire after striking a power pole. 

First responders from the Great Bend Police Department, Barton County Sheriff's Office, and Great Bend Fire/EMS responded quickly to find a submerged vehicle fully engulfed in flames. One occupant was later found deceased in the vehicle.
