Ori Briger of the 6th-ranked Barton Community College volleyball team has been selected as the Week Nine KJCCC Division I Volleyball Setter of the Week.
Briger orchestrated the first wave of Barton's 6-2 offense to its most efficient outing of the season, guiding the Cougars to a straight-set sweep over nationally receiving vote getter Butler Community College in its lone match of the week.
The sophomore distributed 20 assists in three sets, helping Barton post a season-best .414 team hitting percentage while adding eight digs, a service ace, and a kill on her lone attack attempt.
Marking the team's tenth overall conference or national weekly honor this season, Briger previously won the Week 2 distinction, joined by libero Mina Kaneko's five-time distinction (Weeks 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8), Stasa Stamenkovic's two selections (Weeks 4 and 7), and middle blockers Aubrey Olander and Indigo Pruitt (Week 3).
Briger and the Cougars return to the court tonight hosting Pratt Community College in a 6:30 p.m. first serve looking to extend their win streak to seven if victorious. Barton enters the match at 10–1 in conference play and 23–5 overall while Pratt comes in at 3-10 in league and 12-21 on the season.
