Ellinwood Hospital seeking community input on health needs

Posted Feb 11, 2024 3:00 PM

Over the next few months, Ellinwood Hospital & Clinic will be working together along with other area community leaders to update the Ellinwood, KS 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). Today we are requesting community residents’ input regarding current healthcare delivery and unmet resident needs.

The goal of this assessment update is to understand progress from past Community Health Needs Assessments conducted in 2021, 2018 and 2015, while collecting up-to-date community health perceptions and ideas. VVV Consultants LLC, an independent research firm from Olathe, KS has been retained again to conduct this countywide research.

A brief community survey has been developed to accomplish this work. The CHNA survey link can be accessed by visiting our hospital website or by utilizing the QR code below for quick access.

All community residents and business leaders are encouraged to complete this online survey by February 23rd, 2024. In addition, a CHNA Town Hall meeting to discuss the survey findings and identify unmet needs will be held on Friday, March 22nd, 2024 for lunch from 11:30am-1pm. More info to come soon regarding the Town Hall. Thank you in advance for your time and support! If you have any questions regarding CHNA activities, please call (620) 564-2548 and ask to speak with Kile Magner.

Ellinwood Hospital & Clinic is thrilled to introduce two exceptional additions to its healthcare team, Kathy Wyer, NP-C, FNP-BC, and Paul Wyer, RRT. This dynamic husband-wife duo comes to us with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to both their patients and their community.

Kathy Wyer, a dual Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, brings her passion and expertise to Ellinwood Clinic. With a penchant for working with pediatric patients, she is eager to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the community's children. Her special touch for patients with varying abilities has earned her the admiration of many.

Patients can look forward to the compassionate care and dedication Kathy provides, ensuring they receive the highest standard of medical attention. Her expertise in family medicine and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable asset to the clinic.

Notably, the Wyers are not just professionally accomplished but also family-oriented and community-focused individuals. When they are not busy treating patients, they can be found volunteering at their local church and caring for their livestock. Their sense of community and passion for giving back are qualities that have already endeared them to many in the Ellinwood area.

In addition to Kathy, Paul Wyer has also joined the Ellinwood Hospital & Clinic team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). His expertise and dedication have allowed the hospital to establish its own internal Respiratory Therapy Department for the first time. This addition ensures that patients have access to specialized respiratory care right within the hospital, further enhancing the quality of healthcare services available.

Together, Kathy and Paul Wyer are set to make a significant and positive impact on the healthcare landscape of Ellinwood, bringing their expertise and commitment to the community they call home. We are delighted to have them as part of our healthcare family and look forward to their continued contributions to the well-being of our community.
