Central Plains, Pawnee Heights gear up for State Basketball

The Central Plains High School girls' basketball team will look for their 8th straight state championship March 10-12 at Barton Community College in Great Bend. The Lady Oilers defeated Rural Vista 63-15 in the sub-state championship game on Saturday to advance to state. Central Plains plays at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10 against St. John's - Tipton.The Central Plains High School boys basketball team advanced to state after entering this past weekend's sub-state with a record of 1-18. The Oilers defeated #1-seed Centre High School 46-41 in the championship game. Now 4-18, Central Plains plays Wednesday, March 9 at Barton Community College at 6 p.m. against Hanover.Pawnee Heights High School is returning to the Class 1A-DII State Basketball Championships after knocking off the #1 and #2 seeds in the Stafford sub-state this past weekend. The Tigers play at Barton Community College on Wednesday, March 9 in the first round against Greeley County at 2 p.m.
