For nearly three decades, the North Carolina-based "John Boy & Billy Big Show" has dominated the morning airwaves at 104 3 the Point. Changes are coming for 2024. Station Program Director Becca Tudor said "The Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show" begins Jan. 8 at 4 a.m.
"John Boy and Billy have been around for a long time, but we're super excited to give these new guys a brand new opportunity," she said. "You hear 'Free Beer and Hotwings,' and it's like sign me up. Tune in weekday mornings to hear what they are all about because something new is coming, and we're excited for it."
The new show features Gregg "Free Beer" Daniels, Chris "Hog Wings" Michels, with Steve and Kelly. The show began in Omaha, Neb. in 1997. Instead of calling it "The Gregg and Chris Show," the hosts admit the free beer and hot wings bit is little more than a publicity stunt. The show, which will feature the same classic rock 104 3 the Point listeners have grown accustomed to, can now be heard in 26 states. The addition of 104 3 the Point marks the show's first venture into Kansas.
The show features a Dumber than the Show trivia segment daily at 7:40. Callers compete against Michels and have 90 seconds to answer questions with prize money on the line.
Aaron Clark will host the 104 3 the Point morning show from Jan. 1-6, 2024, offering previews of the new programming. "The Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show" officially hits the local airwaves the following Monday at 4 a.m., and will run through 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday.
