The Barton Community College women's bowling team opened the 2024-25 season with a third-place finish at the Kansas Wesleyan University Invite Wednesday at the Alley in Salina, Kansas.
Featuring a trio of teams competing over three individual and nine baker games, the Cougars came out with a total pin count of 3936 falling 107 back of host Kansas Wesleyan University's 4043 accumulation and Baker University's tournament high 4246 pin count.
Leading Barton in the 19-participant field was freshman JaeLinn Thetford piling up a three-game mark of 514 falling 10 back of Baker's Kaleigh Buckalew's top series 524 score. Thetford started off hot with an opening best round 201 before concluding with games of 154 and 159.
Alexis Wareman concluded the top 10 placings for the Cougars piling up the ninth most pin fall of 458. Wareman finished her collegiate debut with an average game score of 153 behind games of 170, 133 and 155.
Barton held four of the five spots outside of the top 10 behind Chailyn Scott's 11th place, McKenzie Craig's 12th spot, Hope Resendiz 13th finish and Ellie Weeks 15th result to close out the Cougars' individual lineup.
Next up for Barton is the two-day weekend trip to Fort Worth, Texas for a pair of tier-II tournaments. Action gets underway for the Cougars Saturday at 8:00 a.m. for the SWIBC I with the weekend concluding Sunday at the SWIBC II.
