In an effort to reach as many county residents as possible, the Barton County Health Department will be changing its hours effective Sept. 30. Director Karen Winkelman said, as of that date, the health department will now be open until 6 p.m. four days a week.
"We're looking at these extended hours through 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday as opportunities for meeting the needs of people who work 8-5," she said. "There's a little extra time in your day to get your service needs met through the health department."
The health department will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The office will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. each day for lunch. On Friday's, the health department will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.
"Previously, we had only had extended hours on Thursday evenings, so this gives an opportunity for four different days of the week," Winkelman said.
The Barton County Health Department offers a wide variety of services, including WIC, family planning, breastfeeding peer support, immunizations, child care licensing, lab services, and more.
