REMOVED FROM THE AGENDA – TREASURER’S OFFICE: HB 2380 Motor Vehicle Fee Bill:
ITEM B. HEALTH DEPARTMENT: 2nd Annual Community Baby Shower: -Karen Winkelman, Health Director, introduced Christy Huslig from the Health Department. Huslig said the Barton County Health Department will host a Community Baby Shower from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 23, 2022. The 2nd annual event, held at Jack Kilby Square, is open to new and expectant parents, support people and community service providers. Educational opportunities will focus on safe sleep. Included will be door prices, daddy relay games, immunizations and activities for children. For more information, look for the Facebook event or call the Health Department at 620.793.1902.
ITEM C. USDA DISTANCE LEARNING AND TELEMEDICINE GRANT PROGRAM: Program Update: -Dereck Hollingshead, Information Technology Director, provided details. In 2020, Barton, Ellsworth, Rice and Stafford Counties received a USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant. Funding provided for telehealth equipment for detention facilities and public health as well as Central Kansas Community Corrections and 20th Judicial District Juvenile Services. Hollingshead encouraged the Commission to apply for future funding to replace aging equipment received through this program.
It was announced that the Commission will meet with the Ellinwood City Council at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Ellinwood Public Library, 210 N Schiller, Ellinwood, Kansas. It is anticipated that the meeting will center on current issues involving local municipalities.
