The Pilot Club of Great Bend will be honoring Autism Awareness throughout the month of April. Traditionally, April is denoted as Autism Awareness Month with April 2 as Autism Awareness Day. The Proclamation signing with the Barton County Commissioners will be April 7, serving as a reminder that not only is autism a global and nationwide issue, but friends and neighbors in our own community struggle daily to do the best for children and adults facing the challenges autism can bring. Lifelong in scope, autism is a neurodevelopmental condition. Pilot Club encourages acceptance, understanding, and inclusion.

Founded in 1987, the Pilot Club of Great Bend has strived to follow Pilot International’s emphasis on brain health and safety. Pilot’s mission is to improve the quality of life in our community by striving to “Do More, Care More, and Be More,” through service.

Our fourth workshop will be on Sept. 12 at Barton Community College and is entitled “Sensory and Play: Understanding Autism and Other Neurodivergent Conditions.”
