The stars are aligning for another big Hoisington Labor Day Celebration in September. Quite literally with a $20 donation to the Hoisington Chamber of Commerce. The chamber is once again selling Walk of Fame stars ahead of the 126th annual celebration. This year there is a tiny twist.
"This year, we're doing something a little bit different for the stars," said Chamber Director Karen Baldyga. "You can purchase your star from last year - you can keep it. All you need to do is fill out a form to say you want to keep your star. You have until July 31 to do that. Or, if you didn't get a star last year, you still have time to order one, and that goes until Aug. 26."
The stars would last beyond a year but the paint does wear thin. With the $20 donation, the chamber will repaint each star so it is fresh for this year's Labor Day celebration.
"The Walk of Fame, people are really loving this," Baldyga said. "They love putting it down if they've had a new baby, or if someone recently passed away. A family likes to get them, businesses love to put them down to advertise their name. It's a lot of fun and people love to walk up and down and find out where their stars are."
All proceeds from the Walk of Fame go towards the Labor Day celebration and other chamber events throughout the year. CLICK HERE for a form to keep or purchase a star.
