From the Chamber

It has been an interesting journey through the 105-year history of the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce as the Chamber team rummaged through its storage room while preparing to relocate to the new FORGE Innovation Center, located near 10th Street and K-96. The move will be effective Nov. 1.

“We’ve found a lot of interesting stuff back here,” said Megan Barfield, Chamber president and chief executive officer. As she displayed a framed, poster-sized Sept. 26, 1928, certificate marking the Chamber's membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a stand of red shovels rested in the corner from a long-past groundbreaking ceremony.

As staff members prepare for the move, the Chamber has established temporary public office hours for October at its current location, 1125 Williams St.

Temporary public hours are:
· Monday through Thursday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Friday: By appointment only. Call 620-792-2401 to schedule.

Staff members will continue to work and monitor email during regular business hours throughout the workweek.

To complete the physical relocation, the Chamber office will be closed to walk-in visitors Oct. 26–30. Phone calls and emails will still be monitored, and appointments may be scheduled for urgent or time-sensitive matters.

The FORGE Innovation Center serves as a multiuse regional facility designed to support economic growth, entrepreneurship, workforce training and community services across Barton County. Developed by Great Bend Economic Development, the facility brings small-business resources and educational initiatives under one roof.
