The Barton County Historical Society welcomes Marla Matkin to the Ray Schulz Memorial Library on Monday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Marla is native Kansan descended from homesteaders, a former teacher, and utilizes her love of history and theater to entertain and inform audiences about the women of the Santa Fe Trail. She has made multiple appearances at Fort Larned Historical Site and has authored two children’s books, “Custer’s Mouse” and “A Dragon’s Tale.”
Admission is free for members of the society and $5 for individuals over 16 wishing to attend the program. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Light refreshments are provided.
The Barton County Historical Society is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday all year and has summer hours in April, from 1-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
