On Friday, April 18, at approximately 8:51 p.m., Great Bend Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of Adams Street on an attempt to locate a wanted individual. The complainant advised that Devon Keith, age 23, had outstanding felony warrants for his arrest and that he was inside of the residence.
Upon arrival, officers received permission to enter the residence to search for Keith, who was subsequently located hiding under a pile of clothing inside of a closet in the rear bedroom. When he was located, Keith actively resisted arrest, but he was taken into custody. Officers also located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded rifle inside the closet within proximity to Keith.
Keith was transported the Barton County Jail, where he was booked for three Barton County felony (no bond) warrants, three Great Bend Municipal Court warrants, distribution of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, criminal possession of a firearm, interference with an LEO and criminal damage. Upon review of the new charges, a 20th Judicial District Judge set Keith's new bond amount at $500,000.
