On Oct. 7, 1958, she married Robert R. Challans at the Sister Frieda Chapel, Newton. Robert and Elsie celebrated 64 years of marriage in 2022. She dedicated her life to raising three sons and rejoicing in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Robert of Newton: three sons, Robert F. Challans of Hesston; Mark W. (& Cindy) Challans of Smolan; and Dr. Phillip (& Jama) Challans of Wichita. Elsie came from a large family of 10 children and is also survived by brother Richard Hege of Newton, and sister Delores (& Fred) Sexauer of DeSoto, Texas. Elsie was extremely proud of her five grandchildren; Daniel, Lacey, Caley, Brandon and Sky and six great-grandchildren; Mallorie, Mike, Miles, Makenna, Marshall and Nash.
