GBPD traffic stop results in three arrests on drug charges

On Sept. 25 at approximately 12:15 p.m., a Great Bend Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3900 block of 10th Street for an equipment violation. During the traffic stop, K9 Menta was utilized to conduct a free air sniff, where she alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Danyan Battaglear, also had an outstanding felony warrant out of Harvey County for distribution of narcotics.

Two passengers in the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Jason Battaglear, and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested as well. Danyan Battaglear and Jason Battaglear were transported to the Barton County Jail where they were booked in lieu of bond. The 17-year-old juvenile was booked into the Barton County Jail, and later released to be transported to Reno County juvenile detention in Hutchinson.
