Facade improvements, zoning amendments, and appointments to the Barton County Planning Commission kept Zoning Administrator Judy Goreham busy Wednesday. Along with presenting the Barton County Commission with information on a zoning amendment, she also presented the names of four applicants to fill upcoming vacancies on the planning commission.
"This is kind of exciting for me," she said. "I've never had this many applications come in. Never, in 20 years, have I had this much interest to be on this planning commission."
Each March 31, one-third of the nine-member body terms. Goreham said she always suggests reappointment if current members reapply. Chad Ehrlich and J.C. Bosch reapplied and were reappointed, and Earl Moses did not reapply. The Barton Commission voted 4-0 to accept the nomination of Dr. Dan Witt of Hoisington to fill Moses' vacancy.
Goreham also presented a zoning amendment for a tract of land owned by Lance and Amy Crosby between Dundee and Pawnee Rock. C4 Ag Solutions will sell and store agriculture seed and chemicals in a new 60-foot by 120-foot building. Goreham reminded residents of the importance of being in compliance with projects prior to their completion.
"I would just encourage the citizens of Barton County, just stop, make a one or two-minute phone call to me," she said. "I can quickly tell you if there are rules that apply, what they are, what the process is. It's very simple to make that quick phone call."
The Barton County Planning Commission has changed its monthly meeting time to the second Thursday of each month. Those take place in the conference room at the Barton County Courthouse at 9 a.m., with the next meeting scheduled for April 13.
