The 7th ranked Barton Community College women's golf team closed its fall campaign in strong fashion, placing second at this week's Buccaneer Fall Invitational hosted by Blinn College at Brenham Country Club in Brenham, Texas.
Facing a field featuring four nationally ranked NJCAA programs and a pair of NAIA opponents, the Cougars improved 16 strokes on the final day to post rounds of 327 and 311 for a 62-over-par 638 total, finishing 15 shots behind host and fourth-ranked Blinn's 623 (317-306). The Cougars outdistanced No. 16 Tyler Junior College, a second Blinn entry, No. 21 Collin College, and Jacksonville College, as well as NAIA No. 83 Texas A&M–Texarkana and No. 94 Texas A&M–Victoria.
Freshman Panalee Prachavittayagon led Barton, following an opening 81 with a second-round 76 to climb two spots on the leaderboard into a share of third place at 13-over 157 — her fifth top-three finish of the fall season.
Chomchanok Laparojkit also moved up two places, landing in the top seven of all six fall tournaments after carding steady rounds of 83 and 79 for an 18-over 162 to tie for seventh. Diana Alvarado continued her consistent season form with a fifth top-nine finish, posting 83-81 for a 20-over 164 and a tie for ninth.
Suri Rocha Orozco rebounded impressively from an opening 90 with a closing 75 — the tournament's third-lowest individual round — vaulting 18 spots into a tie for 12th at 21-over 165. Rounding out Barton's team scoring, Giovanna Tabanag contributed a fifth-best 80 in the opening round before slipping to a 91 in round two, tying for 20th at 27-over 171.
Competing individually, Alexandria Baxter shot a 30-over 174 (91-83) to tie for 25th, Kadynce Nash finished 35th at 40-over 184 with consistent 92s, and Alexandria Hunt placed 38th at 188 (87-101).
