Even the small things make a difference. Last week, Hoisington fifth grader Izaac Dutton was named the final October weekly winner in Eagle Media's Make a Difference Contest, presented by OPI and Golden Belt Printing. His contribution: pushing in chairs when leaving the classroom and helping classmates grade their math papers. For his efforts, Izaac was presented a giant $100 check from OPI and Golden Belt Printing, and he and his teacher, Stephanie Lomas, were entered into the monthly drawing. Later that week, Eagle Media staff presented Izaac and Ms. Lomas with even more good news in front of a gymnasium full of Lincoln Elementary students.
"You won a backpack filled with swag from all of our sponsors. You won an additional $100 - so that's $200. But here's where it gets really cool. I also got you an 'A.' I'm just kidding, I didn't actually get you an 'A,' but I got your teacher $100 as well."
Dutton was one of four October weekly finalists alongside Ellinwood fourth grader Madilyn Frees, Central Kansas Christian Academy third grader Isabel Valles, and Lincoln Elementary third grader Brysen Tovar.
