The Eagle Media staff in Great Bend made another visit to an elementary school this week to award a Make a Difference winner. Barton County grade school students were given a chance to fill out a form this year stating how they make a difference in the world around them.
This month’s winner was Central Kansas Christian Academy 5th grader Grady Weber.
"I make a difference by helping with chores at my house and teaching kids to be respectful, responsible and safe, which is the Warrior way," said Weber.
New winners are drawn each month through the school year. Weber’s teacher Lisa Beckwith said Grady is a delight to have in the classroom.
"Grady is a very good student," said Beckwith. "He does exactly what he says. He's respectful and does what he's supposed to. He treats his friends with kindness. He's a great student to have in the classroom."
Weber receives a $100 Great Bend Chamber of Commerce certificate and his teacher, Beckwith, receives $100 as well. The winning student is also featured on a radio news broadcast.
