The Great Bend Recreation Commission likes to present the Youth Sports Parents Guide as a talking point going into each sports season. The guide gives parents an idea of what the Rec Commission and coaches are pledging to them and their children.
Rec Interim Sports Director Shane Sandberg said the guide also lays out the behavior that is expected from the parents.
"I ran flag football last fall and I saw how wild it gets between the parents, officials and coaches," said Sandberg. "I have spoken to the officials and coaches about it. I'm really going to try to quiet that down a little bit."
Sandberg said the Rec had to eject a coach this past fall for his behavior during a youth flag football game. The son of the coach that was ejected proceeded to bring up the instance and give the official a hard time.
The Great Bend Recreation wants every participant to enjoy their experience with the Rec activities and expects good sportsmanship from everyone.
