CINCINNATI (AP) — David N’Guessan had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Dug McDaniel added 13 points, and Kansas State defeated Cincinnati 54-49. N’Guessan scored eight points and McDaniel scored six in a key stretch of the second half in which K-State outscored Cincinnati 14-8 to build a seven-point lead with four minutes remaining. The Wildcats cooled off and their next four possessions resulted in a turnover and three missed shots while two baskets by Jizzle James got Cincinnati within 52-49. Kansas State finally scored again when Brendan Hausen made two free throws for a 54-49 lead with 22 seconds left. Cincinnati missed a 3-pointer, N’Guessan missed the front end of the bonus, and Cincinnati missed another 3-pointer as time ran out.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — JT Toppin had 30 points and 14 rebounds as ninth-ranked Texas Tech led throughout in a 91-75 win over Colorado. That clinched a double-bye to the quarterfinal round for the 23-7 Red Raiders in next week’s Big 12 Tournament. It was 13th double-double this season for Toppin while leading five players scoring in double figures Wednesday night for Tech in its home finale. Bangot Dak and Sebastian Rancik each scored 12 points for 11-19 Colorado. Chance McMillian put Tech ahead to stay with a 3-pointer for the opening basket in the first minute of the game.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Darius Johnson scored a career-high 36 points and UCF won its final regular-season home game with an 83-70 victory over Oklahoma State. Johnson surpassed his previous career-best 33 points on his seventh 3-pointer with 4:11 to play. The Knights (16-14, 7-12 Big 12) trailed by 10 points early in the second half before pulling away with a 32-9 run for a 69-56 lead. Brandon Newman scored all 13 of his points in the first half to lead Oklahoma State (14-16, 6-13). UCF has won three of its last four games. Oklahoma State has lost four of the last five.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Bailey Maupin scored 12 points, Kilah Freelon scored eight of her nine points in the fourth quarter and No. 14 seed Texas Tech beat 11th-seeded Kansas 57-53 in a Big 12 Championship first-round game. Kansas (16-14) trailed by 11 points midway through the third quarter but used a 15-3 run to take a 46-45 lead with 5:14 remaining in the fourth. Freelon and Maupin combined for 13 of the Red Raiders’ 15 fourth-quarter points while Brittany Harshaw scored eight of the Jayhawks’ 18 points. Texas Tech (16-16) will move on to face No. 6 seed Utah in the second round.

UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers released Joey Bosa. The move Wednesday night ended the linebacker’s nine-season tenure with the franchise. It was expected due to Bosa’s large salary cap number and injury history. Bosa had a cap number of $36.47 million for the 2025 season, but the move will save the Chargers $25.36 million in cap space. Bosa was the third overall pick by the Chargers in the 2016 draft and was the last player on the roster from when the team played in San Diego. Bosa's five sacks were his fewest in the six seasons he has played at least 12 games as he battled hip and back injuries.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Bill Belichick is back on the practice sidelines again, though now in college at North Carolina. The 72-year-old coach who won six Super Bowls with the NFL's New England Patriots opened spring practices at UNC this week. He also held his first news conference on campus since his introductory one after his hiring in December. Belichick told reporters that players have responded well to the new staff. That comes as Belichick and general manager Michael Lombardi have talked about building what amounts to a mini-NFL model in a college program. UNC's spring practices run through April 12.
